Location: Remote, Eastern Canada

Division: Front Gate Tickets

Line Manager: VP, Engineering

Contract Terms: Permanent, 37.5 hours per week

Front Gate Tickets is North America’s leading software and operations provider for the festival market. We provide technical solutions for e-commerce ticketing, access control, data management, and fan engagement. We partner and run on-site operations for over 200 festivals each year and are on a massive growth trajectory matched by no one in the industry. We do it for the fans!

Front Gate is owned by Live Nation Entertainment and acts as Ticketmaster’s festival arm. We have two offices located in Austin, TX.

THE TEAM

Our development team is responsible for designing and building the technical solutions that make up North America’s premier festival ticketing platform. We are a modestly sized group that takes pride in our ability to deliver timely results across a wide breadth of product offerings. These offerings cover (but are not limited to) ecommerce, box office management, marketing and fulfillment services, and on-site access control. We’re looking for individuals to help us design and build our next generation of industry leading tools and technologies.

THE JOB

Lead multiple groups of engineers in building and supporting best-in-class music festival centric technical solutions.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (or TECHNICAL SKILLS)

  • Report to VP of Engineering and serve as a company leader for engineering.

  • Collaborate with supervisor in defining engineering strategy and technical roadmap.

  • Lead staffing efforts across multiple agile teams – onshore vs. offshore as well as full-time vs. contract.

  • Address relevant personnel matters such as resource allocation and performance evaluation.

  • Monitor and support skill and career development for direct reports.

  • Unite technical leaders in the definition of processes and best practices.

  • Serve as an advocate for technical initiatives in the product roadmap planning process.

  • Periodically provide valuable individual coding contributions to expedite initiatives.

  • Support on-call needs through direct contribution or escalation/rotation management.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (or TECHNICAL SKILLS)

  • 8+ years related work experience.

  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership role.

  • Advanced knowledge of:

  • application and data architecture

  • object oriented programming principles

  • prevailing best practices and design patterns

  • Expert knowledge of:

  • agile methodologies

  • cloud infrastructure architecture

  • testing methodologies

  • version control tools and best practices

  • Mastery of one or more scripting languages.
