What you'll be doing.

The Senior Manager, Leadership works closely with the Director, Leadership Executive Development, to ensure alignment of development programs and effective communication of the Leadership Strategy. In this role, you will be responsible for strengthening the organization’s leadership capability by supporting the advancement of Leadership priorities and the objectives of the all-Bank leadership strategy. You will be accountable for the creation of key content and integration of team deliverables to Executives as presented to the Bank’s Human Capital Committee (HCC) and the Human Resources Committee (HRC) of the Board. This responsibility entails meticulous preparation of executive ready materials delivered under high profile deadlines.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

• End-to-end ownership of deliverables to Executive Committees

o Manage the development and delivery of monthly Human Capital Committee (HCC) materials and Leadership-related material for the Human Resources Committee (HRC) of the Board

o Play a key role in setting the agenda and informing the annual work plan for HCC meetings

o Lead the project management of HCC/HRC deliverables, facilitating the review process with VP, Leadership and SVP, Leadership. Coordinate final reviews and approval process with CHRO and CEO.

o Build and leverage strong working relationships with internal stakeholders (e.g., HR RM offices, Total Rewards and the Secretary’s Department), collaborating to ensure high quality deliverables, appropriate for an executive level audience are executed with attention to detail and in a timely manner

o Design, develop and implement leadership initiatives and processes targeted to the Bank’s senior management, including inputting into the CEO succession planning process

o Deliver on ad hoc leadership requests/outcomes from HCC/HRC to advance the Bank’s leadership strategy

o Implement efficiencies to streamline existing processes for committee deliverables

• Define and implement the communications strategy for Leadership initiatives

o Develop communications roadmap and advise on strategic direction of Leadership Development Strategy initiatives

o Support the articulation of the Leadership strategy, vision and objectives – facilitate and influence the development of the Leadership strategy in partnership with Director, Leadership Development and VP, Leadership

o Advise on strategy / project management / communications approach for multiple complex, simultaneous, interconnected Leadership Strategy initiatives aimed at developing high-potential employees

o Lead the design and development of content (e.g., presentations, speaking notes, etc.) for Leadership-related strategy sessions

o Ensure communications align with the global Leadership Strategy / Bank Strategy and reflect consistent messaging and style across various initiatives

o Ensure communications are clear, concise, consistent, and executive-ready to enhance understanding, engagement, and are conveyed appropriately to stakeholders to support for the Bank's Leadership priorities

o As required, provide communication support, including (but not limited to): research, writing, editing, planning, and measurement of key messages, presentations, speaking notes etc.

o Oversee maintenance and management of department communication vehicles including Leadership Scotiabank Live sites and Diligent Boards

• Maintain a network of subject matter experts to sustain leadership as a competitive advantage

o Develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders to provide subject matter expertise / advice and leverage relationships with groups including HR Relationship Management Offices, Public Corporate & Government Affairs, Secretary’s Department, and Total Rewards etc.

o Sustain an external network of industry leaders and subject matter experts to stay abreast of best-in-class business practices in Leadership Development

o Inform and advise on best practices in the fields of human capital management, communications and leadership in order to contribute to the advancement of the Bank’s leadership agenda

• Partner with Director, Leadership(s) to drive leadership agenda across the enterprise

o Develop and manage calendar of leadership activities across the enterprise identifying opportunities to further engage leaders and showcase the leadership brand

o With Leadership Development team, develop targeted top talent leadership engagement opportunities

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We'd love to work with you if you have:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience planning and developing communications/presentations for executive audiences

• Minimum 5 years’ experience designing, developing and implementing strategic initiatives for global and/or financial services organizations

• Experience with complex / ambiguous / ad hoc situations requiring out of the box solutions, executed with minimal direction and guidance; situations may include working under aggressive time pressures and/or against competing priorities

• Strong analytical skills with ability to apply quantitative analysis to outcomes/trends to assess opportunity for continuous improvement from concept to execution

• Strong project management skills; demonstrated ability to motivate a team and design, develop and implement multiple enterprise-wide projects concurrently within time, cost, and quality constraints

• Demonstrated understanding of current and emerging leadership development strategies as well as latest best practice research

• Demonstrated advanced proficiency with MS Office: PowerPoint, Word, and Excel

• Advanced degree specializing in Leadership, Organizational Change, Business, or Strategy (e.g., MBA); and/or

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an asset
