Canadian Tire Senior Financial Analyst, Accounting in Toronto, Ontario

What you'll do

  • This SFA role is responsible for complex, and judgment based financial models related to revenue recognition, cost of producing revenue and inventory valuation.

  • Manage the accounting for major models applicable to the recognition of retail revenue, cost of producing revenues and inventory. This includes performing assessments and updates to models such as dealer in transit, warranty, inventory triangulation/ obsolescence, shrink, FX reasonability and sales return.

  • Initial point of contact for new business initiatives (new acquisitions, projects, contracts), responsible for ensuring that appropriate accounting decisions are taken and work with accounting group to ensure its execution.

  • Inform Corporate and Business Unit (BU) reporting group of significant changes and decisions taken for each BU monthly and assist in month end reporting/ analysis.

  • Business support and month end reporting and analysis of revenue and margin for various BU’s.

  • Support inquiries from various groups within the business.

  • Undertake ad hoc projects as required.

  • Ability to clearly and confidently, communicate results to technical and non-technical audiences and

  • Ability to execute multiple projects and drive key business results under tight deadlines.

  • Ability to influence and persuade different points of view.

  • Ability to work independently and in an ambiguous environment.

  • Action oriented, and comfortable taking calculated risks to better serve our customers and business.

  • Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint skills.

  • Collaborative team player with superior influencing skills, who build relationships easily across various stakeholder groups to move initiatives forward.

  • Experience using Hyperion Planning & HFM, Peoplesoft accounting systems, and MS Access is an asset.

  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in a medium to large company, accounting department, or accounting firm.

  • Outcome focused, critical thinker with the ability to analyze and visualize, to ensure continuous improvement across our entire business.

  • Professional Accounting Designation (CPA, CGA, CA, CMA or equivalent).

  • Self-starter attitude with willingness to learn and master new technologies.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships.

  • Strong problem solving, analytical and strategic thinking skills, able to see the "big picture" in a complex business environment.

  • Strong time management and self-management skills.
