Penhall Company Regional EHandS Manager - Los Angles, CA in Toronto, Ontario

The Penhall Company, has an immediate opening for aRegional Safety Manager to join our team in the LA Basin region.

Overall you will manage safety program initiatives to ensure employees in your region are effectively trained. This will include supporting and training field crews, auditing job sites and developing corrective actions, developing safety programs and work plans, and ensuring the field has the resources they need.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

-3 to 5 years of safety experience in the construction industry, safety management in industrial environments preferred -A solid understanding of local, state, and federal regulations regarding construction safety -Computer competence and familiarity with MS Office -We work on government contracts from time to time, so you will need to be able to obtain security clearance, and also pass background and a motor vehicle record screen -Solid leadership skills and the ability to influence people in the field and at the leadership level -Professional bearing and presence, and the ability to present to various groups -A positive attitude and strong self-motivation -The willingness to work hard as well as the savvy to work smart -Strong time management skills and the ability to manage multiple activities and competing priorities -The ability and willingness to spend a fair amount of time outdoors at job sites, in all kinds of weather -Construction or contruction related industry experience required. -Road construction, civil construction and/or demolition safety experience -OSHA 10- and 30-hour training -OSHA 500 and/or 501 -Familiarity with the following: forklift, aerial lift, respirator, lead exposure, confined space, fall protection, excavation, rigging and cranes

Another important aspect of the role is to interact with customers to assure them that safety is a top priority at Penhall. Working remotely, you will report to the corporate Safety Director and have a dotted line relationship with the Regional Manager. You will cover the Central U.S. with a focus around theNorthwest Regionand will assist with any work that comes into your region from other regions.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

-Training employees at all levels, utilizing classroom, group or one-on-one opportunities to talk with employees to reinforce safety goals. -Promoting the company's "ZERO incident" safety culture. -Limiting company liability and exposure through major accident investigation, corrective action plans and results tracking, and timely and thorough documentation of training. -Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) development. -Job-specific safety program development. -Contract/bid job site compliance follow-up. -Safety and/or new hire orientation and training. -Visiting job sites for compliance review, hazard analysis, and training. -Contract/bid job site inspection with salesman/estimator at bid time. -Regular status meetings to review and follow up with Penhall leadership. -Providing a resource for your safety requirements, such as assisting Division Managers to implement a safety committee. -Acting as a technical resource for the multiple programs that we ask our divisions to implement. This position will require a good deal of flexibility with regard to schedule and working conditions. You'll need to be willing and able to travel up to 80% of your time. You'll travel to job sites as well as to Penhall locations across your region.
