We are currently seeking an individual experienced with change management and project controls to be a part of our high-achieving, diverse, innovating team and join our consulting firm.   

The Opportunity: 

As the Project Controls, Change Control Specialist, you will play a critical role in operating within the client’s environment to impart best practices in managing project scope, cost, and schedule changes. You’ll be responsible for supporting project teams to identify, analyze, and manage emergent variances to baseline. Your expertise will be essential in guiding trend and change control process development, mentor project teams in best practices and serve as an ambassador to project teams.   

Key Responsibilities: 

Trend Identification and Analysis: 

  • Analyze project schedules with project teams to identify potential variances against approved baselines and changes on a project and program-based level. 

  • Consult with project teams to ensure that all project schedules meet client-specific and industry quality standards such that trends can be accurately identified and report to a program level. 

  • Provide guidance to project teams and client Program Management Office on trend and change management best practices. 

  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert on trend and change management best practices. 

  • Collaborate with client stakeholders and project teams to support forecasting requests. 

Schedule Analysis: 

  • Evaluate project schedules to ensure verification of planned milestones, cross-checking activities for logical sequencing, and performing data integrity checks for errors or inconsistencies. 

  • Identify potential schedule risks and facilitate project team discussions around developing mitigations to maintain project timelines. 

  • Monitor project progress against established baseline to flag potential trends or changes to the baseline. 

  • Collaborate closely with project teams to align project objectives with scheduling constraints. 

Collaboration and Mentorship: 

  • Engage with cross-functional teams, including Project Control Coordinators, Project Managers, Program Managers, and Directors to mentor and impart advice related to trend and change management. 

  • Support trend-focused workshop sessions to provide project teams with project-specific assistance and other training materials as required. 

  • Facilitate workshop sessions on trend and change management aimed at the broad community of project practitioners. 

Reporting and Communication: 

  • Facilitate monthly planning committee meeting with project leadership to review and approve submitted trends.  

  • Provide regular updates to client PMO Director on trend and change management challenges and successes across project teams. 

  • Serve as communication conduit between client PMO and project teams to facilitate bi-directional exchange of essential PMO updates, challenges encountered across project teams, and highlighting achievements. 

Continuous Improvement: 

  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance project performance. 

  • Propose process improvements based on trend insights. 

  • Foster a culture of learning and adaptation within client PMO. 

Qualifications: 

  • College/university graduate or equivalent combination of technical skills and experience.   

  • 5-10 years of project experience with an engineering, consulting, or professional services company.   

  • 10+ years of experience in project controls.   

  • Previous experience working in a trend and/or change management capacity preferred. 

  • Priority will be given to those demonstrating experience applying trends at a program level.    

  • Excellent working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.   

  • Expert in Primavera P6 scheduling software. 

  • Experience with relational database software is preferred. 

  • Excellent working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.   

  • Must be willing to travel to client sites as required.   

  • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required.  

  • Candidates must be legally eligible to work in Canada, and must be based in Toronto, or GTA area, or willing to relocate.     

  • This role is a full-time, non-remote position based in Toronto Ontario.
