Job Summary

CN is embarking on a transformative program to modernize our core legacy business systems and are seeking an Expert Modernization to drive the evolution of our digital ecosystem and processes, ensuring alignment with long-term business goals and objectives.

The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of business and technical expertise, a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality.The Expert in Systems Modernization will provide their specialized and relevant expertise to define and implement modernization strategies and activities across various aspects of our organization. You will collaborate closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams (IT and Business) toensure that the technology transformation aligns with and supports our strategic objectives.

Main Responsibilities

· Shape and drive end-to-end digital transformations across business, technology, process and people.

· Gather and analyse information of our current systems, processes, workflows, and technologies, formulate and test hypotheses, and develop and communicate recommendations.

· Help shape and build legacy / mainframe modernization roadmap and solutions based on current state assessment in collaboration with IT leadership and business units.

· Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to gain alignment on modernization priorities and objectives.

· Propose modernization solutions that incorporate cloud computing, microservices, and other cutting-edge technologies.

· Ensure that modernized systems integrate seamlessly with existing IT infrastructure and support business processes effectively.

· Provide strategic guidance and thought leadership on modernization best practices, emerging technologies, and industry trends.

· Drive the execution of modernization initiatives, working closely with project teams to ensure successful implementation and adoption.

· Monitor and track the progress of modernization efforts, identifying and addressing any barriers or challenges along the way.

· Share insights and lessons learned from modernization projects to inform future initiatives and drive organizational learning.

Requirements

Experience

· 10+ years in management of transformation programs

· Diversified IT strategy experience

· Proven record of leadership in a work setting

· Demonstrated experience in the creative development of new solutions and strategies.

· Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is highly desirable, including migration strategies, GCP services, and managing GCP environments.

· Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices is essential

· Consulting experience, an asset.

Education/Certification/Designation

· Minimum of a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field

· Advanced degree is an asset.

Skills/Knowledge

· Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively and articulate IT and business strategies.

· Curiosity and passion for modern technology and its application within business context.

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to trust-based, value-added relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

· Flexibility, adaptability, and enjoyment for working in a fast-paced, result-oriented team environment.

· Excellent project management capabilities.

· Additional certifications or training in cloud computing, or related fields are a plus.

Experience with various mainframe languages is an advantage, as it will facilitate the assessment and migration of legacy systems.

Understanding of the railway industry and its operations will help align technology modernization with specific operational needs and regulatory requirements.
