What You’ll Be Doing

Reporting to the Senior Director, Fusion Threat Intelligence, the Director, Strategic Intelligence is responsible for strategic level information and intelligence collection, analysis, and production. This collection is geared towards assessing the threat landscape against the back drop of CIBC’s assets and is intended to discern trends beyond the tactical, making linkages to the external threat environment, strengthening intelligence assessments, and providing recommendations to support end-users across the enterprise. The Director leverages broad knowledge and experience with intelligence methodologies to advance the Fusion Threat Intelligence program, manage the Strategic Intelligence team, and deliver best in class intelligence products.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Intelligence Cycle Knowledge: Provide specialized advice, consultation, and analysis on intelligence issues and trends relating to Information Security, Fraud, Corporate Security, and Fusion. This includes issues, incidents, investigations and other Fusion use cases. Lead the team in providing strategic level analysis that captures insights and produces concise intelligence products meeting consumer needs and ensuring a high standard. Provide expert level advice/consultation to leadership on intelligence collection from open sources and designing, implementing and delivering on Fusion’s mandate to inform and aid the protection of people, information, and assets.

  • Support Key Stakeholders: Support complex issues and incidents as an intelligence leader with an emphasis on guiding the team in understanding stakeholder needs, tool development and looking for opportunities to improve service to our clients globally. Identify potential issues that pose risk to CIBC, and support the team in taking action and contributing to event and incident management. Undertake special projects with internal and external stakeholders, as assigned / required.

  • Relationship Building: Develop and manage relationships with corporate and business leaders, including facilitating collaboration with security and fraud pillars, providing knowledge of intelligence best practices, and collection and analysis techniques.

  • Leadership and Team Player: Support the Senior Director in the development of the Threat Intelligence capability and specifically leading the maturing of the Strategic Intelligence capability. Contribute to the growth and development of highly skilled intelligence analysts across the entire in partnership with the Director of Operational Intelligence. Build a healthy work environment through ongoing mentorship and support.

  • Strategic Thinking Approach: Provide support to the Senior Director, team members and peers as required to support delivery of Fusion programs. Create, maintain, update and share Fusion Intelligence dashboard and products, lending to continuous program improvement and strong overall management of resources, finances, projects, and initiatives.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate experience in information security/cybersecurity, fraud or physical security (typically 10-12 years) and have attained a four year university degree or college diploma in a related field. Ability to anticipate, plan, monitor and adjust as needed while inspiring, motivating and managing employees through constructive and respectful feedback which encourages and enables performance excellence. Exceptional ability to communicate in a clear, concise and logical manner, verbally and in writing; sufficient to convey complex information/ideas on issues involving interpretation and opinion, capable of ensuring senior leaders are kept aware of issues and provided informed and timely advice. Similarly exceptional at communicating with staff on priorities and issues in a manner which fosters accountability and transparency and conveys context for decision-making.

  • You can demonstrate enhanced analytical capabilities: sufficient to oversee broad intelligence analysis, including the review of draft products to validate accuracy and reliability and ensure outputs provide appropriate insights and recommendations. You maintain a high degree of professionalism and integrity; capable of creating a trusting work environment where the expression of diverse perspectives is encouraged.

  • You can demonstrate exceptional problem solving skills: to creatively develop unique approaches and solutions that are necessary to address complex problems; the ability to anticipate and handle obstacles and propose solutions while demonstrating judgement and critical thinking which considers context, risk, impact and CIBC policies.
