The Role

The Opera House Grill is looking for motivated candidates who are ready to join a powerful team of Hospitality Professionals. The Opera House Grill is a dining establishment that is connected with The Opera House Venue. Being affiliated with one of the city’s most historic performing venues, The Opera House Grill brings live music and great food together in ways everyone can enjoy. We are excited to welcome new talent into our family that is passionate about providing excellent hospitality service on our patio and within our venue.

The Cook will prepare food and assist in food preparation for The Opera House Grill/Patio. The position will require working knowledge and a range of skills pertaining to, working within Health and Safety guidelines and proper food handling technique’s. The Cook will have valid Food Handler’s Certification and the ability to work a flexible schedule of day, afternoon, and weekend shifts.

Overall Responsibilities

  • Prepare food and assist in food preparation for the grill, patio, and venue setting.

  • Receive organize and rotate food items

  • Maintain an orderly and clean kitchen keeping within Health and Safety guidelines and proper food handling.

  • Work with servers and other staff to provide the best service possible.

  • Report to management about product quality and inventory needs.

  • Create daily specials for servers to promote and sell.

Qualifications Required

  • Minimum 2 years of kitchen experience and or experience in food and beverage related fields.

  • Knowledge of Canada Food Guidelines

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Ability to lift to 22.5kg (50lbs)

  • Crisis Prevention and CPI training is an asset.

  • Food Handling Certification

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

Stands and walks regularly throughout the day; uses hands and fingers in the kitchen for up to 8 hours each day; lifts up to 50 pounds regularly; exposed to typical kitchen environment conditions and noise levels.
