The Analyst, Governance and Controls, is a member of the RBIO and is responsible to assist and support to develop and maintain standardized RBIO processes, policies, and procedures. It will be involved in governance compliance, and proactively participate in oversight activities to ensure the production, testing and implementation of reporting aligns to policies and procedures. It will help manage the day to day for the RBIO team supporting the Runbook Activities and keeping the reporting inventory up to date. It will also help support the key Risk activities such as Assessment and Testing (Control Testing, Internal and External engagements, Compliance Exercises). Lastly, assist in providing Project Management Support for new reports or changes to existing reports.

How You'll Succeed

  • Process Improvement - assist to develop, maintain RBIO processes, procedures, and policies. Identify and implement opportunities for procedures standardization and efficiencies.

  • Policy & Procedural Knowledge - Support RBIO in providing proactive governance in adherence to policies and procedures established. Maintain historical repositories for all RBIO procedures and job aids.

  • Maintain Controls - support the assessment and testing of RBIO key controls, and compliance exercises; maintain a centralized risk reporting inventory.

  • Project Management - support by completing Project Management activities like tracking to work back plans, ensuring milestones are established etc.

  • Cross-Functional Relationships - engage with members of ERM, Audit, Risk, and various Lines of Businesses.

  • Compliance Responsibilities - as an employee of CIBC, the incumbent must comply with all applicable CIBC and Line of Business policies, standards, guidelines, and controls.

Who You Are

  • Risk Management. You have some experience in assigned Risk Domain (Credit/ Retail/ Wholesale/ Market Risk/ Operational Risk). Some knowledge of domain-specific risk practices and Risk Engines

  • Technology Savvy. You have knowledge of desktop computing applications, particularly Excel, VBA programming and SQL query analyzer and programming. Some knowledge of data analysis tools (incl. data analyst skill-level using SQL, SAS EG and IBM Cognos, Data Management Tools: Informatica DQ, IBM IGC, Oracle DRM)

  • Time management . You can simultaneously work on multiple tasks and conflicting demands within time constraints, under minimal supervision, and effectively prioritize workload.

  • Problem Solving. You use analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills sufficient to interpret risk measures and effectively communicate the results to business stakeholders and team members.

  • Agile. You are flexible and able to adapt to a constantly evolving system, product and methodology changes is essential.

  • Communication. You use sufficient language to convey factual and conceptual information on complex issues to a broad range of stakeholders.

  • Attention to Detail. You have experience working with data, including validation of certain input data and verification of results to identify anomalies in calculator results.

  • You have (or can demonstrate) 3-5 years of experience in compliance, risk, project management, audit, or governance role in a financial service organization.

  • You have a Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) , in Business, Management, Audit, Legal or related field required.
