Black & McDonald Limited 3rd Class Stationary Engineer in Toronto, Ontario

ABOUT THIS CAREER OPPORTUNITY

Black & McDonald's Southern Ontario FMO team is growing! If you are a technical and hardworking professional searching for an opportunity to build a solid foundation for your career, this position is for you. The 3rd Class Stationary Engineer is located in Toronto and typically reports directly to the Chief Engineer.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Operate steam boilers, air compressors, water softeners, air dryers, pumps, and fans

  • Responsible for the safe operation of the steam plant

  • Perform all tasks related to the safe and efficient operation of the steam boiler plant including repairs and maintenance

  • Perform routine inspection and testing of equipment to ensure proper operation

  • Perform minor repair and general maintenance duties

  • Document air compressor readings, all plant steam produced and consumption, and gas consumption

  • Track and log all gas, water, and hydro readings

  • Performs water analysis on boilers

  • Complete daily log report

  • Monitor and maintain water treatment and boiler systems

  • Test run the safety and standby equipment weekly, UPS, and generator testing

  • Provide access and assistance to sub-trades as required

  • Other duties as required

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Must possess a 3rd Class Power Engineer's Certificate

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 1 year of operating and maintenance experience

  • Critical environment experience preferred

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Due to many mandatory vaccination requirements at client projects / facilities, in order to provide substantial employment by ensuring compliance with our client's mandates, the successful candidate will be required to validate full vaccination prior to hire.

  • Must be able to successfully cleared a security background check

  • Bending and lifting required; lifting under 30 kg

  • Must be able to climb stairs and work on a ladder or scaffold as required

  • Good computer skills
