Job Overview:

The Physical Therapist Assistant implements treatment as directed by the Physical Therapist in coordination with the multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Must meet basic professional entry-level educational requirements from an accredited physical therapist assistant program

  • NJ state license

  • BLS through the American Heart Association

  • Successful completion of all required orientation programs

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Day Shift

  • Part-Time

  • 20 hours per week

Essential Functions:

  • Educates others (patients/ residents, family, caregivers, staff, students, other health care providers) using relevant and effective teaching methods. Identifies and establishes priorities for educational needs in collaboration with the learner. Designs educational activities to address identified needs. Conducts educational activities using a variety of instructional strategies as needed. Assesses effectiveness of educational activities reports to physical therapist/ occupational therapist. Informs customers of services offered. Demonstrates the ability to identify what the patient s/ resident s educational needs are

  • Performs administrative tasks including documentation, billing and scheduling to support the patient, minimizes errors and maximizes quality. Documents accurately and appropriately. Bills accurately and according to policies and regulations. Schedules patients/ residents to maximize treatment outcomes and efficiencies. Completes outpatient paperwork for processing of patient billing timely and accurately. Reports near misses and incidents to appropriate parties. Manages FOTO surveys assuring outcomes measurement on 80% of caseload OP PT only. Accurately uses e-TherapiX and TDS.

  • Performs therapy interventions in a competent manner. Performs effective, efficient, fluid, and coordinated movement in providing technically competent interventions for patients/ residents. Performs interventions consistent with the plan of care. Uses intervention time efficiently and effectively. Engages client/ family in problem-solving activities. Modifies task approach , occupations, and the environment to maximize client performance. Identifies medical, social, or psychological problems influencing therapy reports to physical therapist/ occupational therapist

  • Communicates outcome of care, considers current level of impairments and predicted functional limitations and disabilities. Requests re-examinations of patient status when appropriate. Assesses changes in patient status reports to therapist or nurse. Makes suggestions to therapist leading to appropriate case management. Obtains accurate information by performing medical record reviews

  • Coordinates and collaborates with health care team to provide highest quality service possible. Communicates to Case Managers on a timely basis. Communicates and discusses cases with therapists on a timely basis. Discusses cases and issues with professionals. Instructs nursing and other team members how best to manage patients considering rehab needs. Coordinates care with other rehab disciplines

  • Implements plan of care integrating goals, treatment, anticipated outcomes, and discharge plan. Anticipates expected progression towards goals and desired functional outcomes within expected time durations. Reinforces plan of care in collaboration with the patient/ resident, family, caregiver, and others. Adjusts the plan of care progression as recommended by a physical therapist/ occupational therapist in response to changes in patient/ resident status. Reports changes in discharge plan to physical therapist/ occupational therapist. Selects strategies to achieve the desired outcomes. Collaborates with physical therapist/ occupational therapist on a daily basis regarding patient's/ resident's care

  • Performs other tasks as required in the department
