Position Summary: Oversee all facets of laboratory operations and treatment operations at a Part B Hazardous Waste Treatment and Disposal Facility (TSDF). Ensures all laboratory operations are conducted in accordance with established EPA methods. Position will be responsible for the supervision and auditing of all facility permits, regulatory requirements and safety culture consistent with company values and established laboratory standards. Will manage any laboratory staff in performing treatability studies, analytical testing, as they efficiently, and compliantly implement, monitor, and manage the company's Waste Acceptance Plan (WAP). The Treatment Chemist will direct treatment operations to ensure safe, efficient and profitable waste treatment operations. This position works with established SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures) with specific safety and environmental policies established by EH&S. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Delivers excellent customer service to internal and external customers consistent with HCC's Commitments: Selfless, Ethical, Respectful, Versatile, Innovative, Communication and Encouraging Develop and oversee the operation of a laboratory generally consistent with NELAC standards Knowledge of hazardous waste landfill site and its permits Complete customer audit forms and participate in on-site audits Develop, conduct and oversee required fingerprint testing and analytical testing protocol consistent with EPA standards (e.g., Metals, Volatiles, Semi-Volatiles, BOD, Conductivity, etc.) Design and monitor required sampling and analysis of all inbound, outbound and treated waste consistent with site permit requirements Develop cost efficient, compliant and safe treatment recipes to treat candidate waste to required LDR standards consistent with facility Waste Analysis Plan (WAP) Responsible for the QA/QC of Laboratory Organize and maintain laboratory logs, files and records Oversee a program that ensures calibration and maintenance of all analytical instrumentation P&L oversight, and Other reasonable duties as assigned including additional treatment chemistry support at other Crystal-Clean locations. Education/Experience/Qualifications: 4 Year Degree Preferred or equivalent work experience required. Minimum of 5-10 years lab and treatment experience required. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Must have sound chemistry skills and a working knowledge of waste treatment and handling principles. Must have good organizational and record keeping skills. Must of knowledge of federal, state and local compliance rules and regulations. Strong leadership and communications skills Waste treatment background Ability to work independently and as part of a team Physical Demands: The physical demands below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
