Salary Range:$25.44 To 30.70 Hourly

 

Supervise, assign, and review the work of maintenance employees to maintain a good running bus fleet, along with facilitating overall upkeep of the TARTA buildings and grounds.  Ensuring maintenance employees are utilized in accordance with Contractual Bargaining Agreement provisions, while promoting the safety of all employees through positive enforcement of safety rules and regulations.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Coach and counsel maintenance employees to help them achieve the next higher classification.
  • Achieve maximum productivity through the use of motivating behaviors and judgements with all maintenance employees including peers.
  • Plan, organize, prioritize, and schedule mechanical and non-mechanical work to ensure it meets TARTA's standard of excellence.   
  • Take corrective action when necessary.
  • Identify staff development and training needs; provide and coordinate training as appropriate.
  • Work with employees to correct deficiencies and implement disciplinary procedures when appropriate. 
  • Receive work orders and/or emergency calls. 
  • Evaluate issues and prioritize workflow.
  • Establish schedules and methods for providing necessary, routine maintenance.
  • Maintain vehicle records, prepare memorandums, reports and correspondence.
  • Continuously monitoring/evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of internal procedures, identify opportunities for improvement and collaborate with the Director of Maintenance for implementation.
  • Participate in the development of department goals, objectives, priorities and procedures and implement the same.
  • Maintain compliance with TARTA policies, all federal, state and local laws and regulations, which include, but are not limited to: OSHA, DOT, and the FTA.

  • Knowledge of diesel, powertrain, electrical systems and preventative maintenance programs

  • Complies with all applicable laws and policies regarding confidential information.

  • This is a night shift role.
  • Position will require work hours on weekends and on call.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE - REQUIRED:

  • Education: College degree preferred; however, can be substituted with 5 years positive supervisory experience in heavy duty automobile maintenance preferred
