ProMedica Health System Maintenance Mechanic Carpenter - Facilities Eng - Main Campus - Full-Time - Days in Toledo, Ohio

Conducts, repairs, and maintains wooden structures such as furniture, equipment, partitions, and other parts of the hospital building using hand and power tools as assigned. Assist with general maintenance activities as directed.

ACCOUNTABILITIES Required to attend mandatory training and pass any associated tests. Must be able to travel within the ProMedica Health System. Will be required to use computerized work order System. On Call hours may be required on an as needed basis.

  1. Reviews projects, makes recommendations and provides feedback on improvement processes for campus facilities. Builds/fabricates, repairs, and installs as directed within the capabilities of the trade.

  2. Requisitions lumber, hardware, and other department supplies and equipment, maintains inventory of carpentry tools and equipment.

  3. Works from blueprints and drawings, in construction and repair projects. Maintains all required records and information pertinent to costing out work assignments, project progress and completion.

  4. Constructs and maintains building woodwork such as bins, counters, benches, stairs, and doors. Repairs articles of furniture such as cabinets, chairs, storage fixtures, and office equipment. Repairs or replaces windows, doors, ceiling and floor tile plus various wooden wall coverings and replaces damaged veneer, etc.

  5. Operates a wide variety of machines such as band saw, mortiser, drill press, power saw, joiner, shaper, and wood lathe, key machine, and other associated power equipment. Keeps work areas orderly, clean, and safe. Ensures proper care in the use of equipment and supplies.

  6. Responsible for organization's compliance to rules and codes set forth by regulatory agencies; i.e., JCAHO, OSHA, NFPA, etc.

All other duties as assigned.

Education: High school graduate, Degree from technical school. Skills: Operate hand and/or power tools Years of Experience: Minimum 5 years Commercial Experience License: Valid Driver’s License.

WORKING CONDITIONS Personal Protective Equipment: Eye and Face protection, Respirator/CAPR mask with medical clearance, Arc Flash PPE Physical Demands: Works in precarious or high locations, ladders/scaffolding, etc. Exposed to electrical/mechanical/power equipment hazards. Must be able to move, lift or carry materials or equipment weighing up to 10 pounds up to 55% of the time; 20 pounds 10% of the time. Must be able to see, hear, and move intermittently, or use prosthetics that will enable you to function adequately to assure that the requirement of this position can be fully met. Frequent reaching/stooping/bending/kneeling/crouching/prolonged standing/walking. Possible exposure to Confined Spaces. Must be able to perform and understand Lock out Tag out procedures. Handles crisis or emergency situations and responds to appropriate building codes.
