Description

The HCCO plays a crucial role in helping Johnson & Johnson (J&J) to achieve high performance with high integrity:

  • Leading the HCC Program for J&J MedTech and Vision Japan, to ensure business practices and activities are in compliance with J&J guidelines, local laws, regulations and industry code, as well as anti-corruption laws, including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

  • Working closely with the executive leadership, BU management and functional teams in J&J Medical and Vision Japan and serving as a strategic business partner for management and coach towards all employees; the HCCO plays a crucial role to assure that the J&J’s culture of integrity and compliance is a natural element in day-to-day business.

Specifically, the HCCO leads, shapes and delivers by:

  • Influencing ethical, patient-centric decision-making, anchored on compliant engagement with Health Care Professionals and Government Officials, aligned with J&J’s HCBI Guide, HCC policies, the industry code and applicable laws and regulations.

  • Supporting business leaders in identifying understanding and managing HCC risks through strategic partnership.

  • Empowering and developing a local talent; nurture a team of best-in-class compliance professionals; identify and grow local talent, creating a solid succession pipeline.

  • Implementing an effective compliance program, aligned to the DOJ’s 10 Hallmarks; partnering with global & regional functions to continuously evolve program effectiveness and share best practices.

  • Partnering with local functions (e.g., Legal, Finance, Quality etc.) to ensure an enterprise approach to risk management.

  • Support and collaborate with broader HCC community in Japan for cross sector initiatives/harmonization efforts.

Scope of Role

  • Customers/ Account contacts: Limited external customer contact.

  • Purpose of activities: Supporting the 10 Hallmarks of an effective compliance program, leading & developing talent

  • Impact of activities and decision-making: High impact for quality and timely delivery of leadership guidance to enable compliant growth

  • Level of autonomy/ supervision received: High Autonomy.

Role Dimensions

  • Communication with others outside Company: Primarily Industry Association and network of compliance professionals

  • Communication with others within Company: The person will have the capability to influence internal stakeholders across all functions in J&J MedTech and Vision businesses local, regionally, and globally.

  • Resource Management: Team of 9 HCC professionals

Qualifications

Essential education and experience:

  • Minimum of BA/BS required. MBA or any other advanced degree preferred but not required.

  • Minimum of 15 years business, legal and/or compliance related experience.

  • Knowledge of FCPA, as well as relevant laws, regulations and industry standards for Japan.

  • Ethics / Compliance certifications preferred but not a must
