The Amazon Devices business is looking for a Field Sales Marketing Manager based in Tokyo, for the Japan Amazon Devices Offline Retail team. This team is tasked with working with Japanese retailers to create a world-class offline selling experience for Amazon Devices. As the owner of JP retail experience with and through channel partners, you will work closely with global and local marketing teams to develop break-through in-store experiences, and create rigorous analytical processes to measure their efficiency while optimizing the overall budget.

To succeed, you’ll need to be willing to roll up your sleeves, wear several hats, show hustle, and work collaboratively across multiple teams. You’ll manage multiple milestones and shifting requirements in a fluid, fast-moving environment, launching and measuring success of in-store marketing and training initiatives as you leverage your proven field team, agency and project management savvy to bring in-store experiences to life.

Key job responsibilities

  • Advocate for what is best for the customer in creating a world-class customer experience.

  • Lead and manage agency partners to ensure a highly educated and engaged field team.

  • Manage retailer-specific field marketing needs and overall execution including: field team education and training, promotion strategy, and in-store display executions.

  • Develop, execute and iterate the Training & Learning roadmap across agency, distributor and retail partner channels.

  • In collaboration with Channel Marketing Manager, use insights, analytics and business acumen to establish and communicate strong review and tracking mechanisms to continually trial, learn and implement learnings for optimal in-store customer experience.

A day in the life

Field Sales Manager keeps close relationships with field sales agents and agencies, communicating and meeting on a daily basis to check on the retail store executions and merchandising status, collecting customer behaviors and trends, and discuss various topics; necessary actions, improvement ideas, and forward-looking actions. This information is shared with other Offline team members, who meets regularly on Mondays and Thursdays, to review sales performance, retail sales trends within the team. While 3-days-a-week return-to-office (RTO) policy is now in place, Offline members tend to come regularly to the office to share retail sales trends and insights. We have a very tight relationship, where everyone chips in to help. However, we are also very flexible to use remote work to keep the work-life balance. We all work hard, but do not forget to have fun!

About the team

While Amazon is well-known for the EC (online) business, Offline Retail business plays a very important role for total Amazon Devices to further scale and grow. Offline retail channel plays a critical role in building trust and sense of security towards our product and brand. Through touch & try experience, we aim to provide excellent customer experience when visiting retail stores. We provide purchase location options for customers, whether it be at retailers store or through Amazon.co.jp. The Offline team members are all passionate and take pride in what we do. Basic Qualifications

  • Experience using data and metrics to measure impact and determine improvements

  • Experience building, executing and scaling cross-functional marketing programs

  • Experience using customer research, hard data and metrics to back up assumptions, generate forecasts, and assess the efficacy of marketing programs

  • Experience managing budgets

  • Experience using Microsoft Excel to manipulate and analyze data

  • Field team management, training and merchandising experience with strong project management and organizational skills.

  • Proven track record of taking ownership and successfully delivering results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience in working with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on tight deadlines.

  • High attention to detail including precise and effective customer communications and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.

  • Ability to think strategically and execute methodically, working in a fast-paced environment where continuous innovation is desired.

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Japanese fluency, business level English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA

  • 5+ years of professional experience within Consumer Electronics physical retail sales/account management, high-tech products, or fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) arena preferred.

  • Experience delivering highly visible and effective customer-facing programs and experiences.

  • Passion for creating and executing innovative consumer experiences in retail store environments.

  • Demonstrates working knowledge of retailers and their business models.

  • Japanese-English bi-lingual.
