The Coca-Cola Company Director, Strategy in Tokyo, Japan

Focus, Scope, & Impact:

(Japan based position)

This role is responsible for a holistic understanding of the Japan and South Korea Operating Unit (OU) landscape to provide Guidance on Where to Play & How to Win. This role focuses on Japan market and by partnering with senior leadership and across Functions in the organization and the Bottling Partners, this role ensures KO System wins in the local market. The role leverages data and high-quality insights anchored in facts and judgement to impact business results. This will include the following:

  • Localize the global strategy , defining how to win through integrated strategy in category & channel /customer and identifying strategic opportunities, including whitespace opportunities and challenges.

  • Analyze through various data sources how the business is performing against the Short as well as Mid/Long term Strategy within the market dynamics and offer course correction perspective and proposal to the System, through collaborative work with Finance.

  • Identify key business questions to be addressed and collaborate with Insight workstreams (IIF) in order to distill powerful insights for the business to tackle on System level.

  • Input the key business Opportunity and Challenges into Mid/Long term strategy development process (LRP/Long Range Plan) from various lens of Macro/Industry/xx

  • Drive comprehensive C ompetitive Intelligence of local industry and players to make timely inputs and facilitate robust decision making , wiring the OU together and connecting with the broader TCCC network

  • Act as an 'in house' consultancy partner , structuring and leading ad-hoc cross-functional analysis or projects to drive the business on growth trajectory

  • Explore and Build External connections to leverage opportunities through networks

Scope :

  • Japan & Korea Operating Unit (2 Operations, 2 Countries)

  • 6 bottlers, including 1 of the Top 5 bottlers worldwide

  • Goals and/or strategies for the role focus both short and mid-term / long term priorities

Impact :

  • Profile: Thought leader who influences leaders across different functions in the OU (including Marketing, Franchise, Commercial, Finance, Technical, among others) as well as Bottling Partners

KEY SUCCESS PARAMETERS

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in several Business Development roles, such as Strategy, Planning, Marketing, Insights, Consulting, PMO, among others

  • Proven trajectory as thought leader, cross functional teams' coordination and alignment, and influencing senior leadership team

Work Focus

  • Ability to integrate multiple insights and complex issues through a broad and holistic approach, defining the strategic direction for the business and leading to actionable solutions

  • Partners with senior leaders to orchestrate and wire the strategy and solution deployment, prioritizing efforts, influencing, aligning and engaging key stakeholders

  • Ability to partner with senior leaders to develop, localize, enhance and deploy insights that drive strategic decision making at OU level and across functions

  • Ability to identify noise from signals in a saturated data environment. Converges contextual data from multiple countries into an OU-specific perspective without losing the power of local insights.

  • Understands the different sources of data required to drive choices and solutions to the business.
