Amazon Business Operations Manager, Points Programs in Tokyo, Japan

We are looking for a talented Business Operations Manager to join our Amazon Points team, a customer obsessed and diverse team. Amazon Points is Amazon’s customer rewards program that rewards customers for their eligible item purchases.

Key job responsibilities

The Business Operations manager supports the wider Points team working closely with product management, software development and technical operations. Locally, Business Operations works closely with internal teams such as Customer Service, Finance, Accounting and Fraud as well as third party partners and banks relied upon to process payments. This role also facilitates the local operational relationship with third party payment partners, advocating for customer experience and applying operational improvements. Additionally this team is responsible for supporting operational efficiencies and escalation reduction opportunities. Come and experience a company and team who focus on customer first!

The Business Operations Program Manager is responsible for helping drive operational excellence for our Points programs. This role will also partner with internal customers to identify points of friction, build a business case, propose requirements and advocate for customer experience improvement projects. This role is required to serve as a hands-on analyst, resolving escalations, gathering data and supporting projects.

A day in the life

Data Analysis and Payments Process management

  • Support data and transaction management tools/systems

  • Identify and resolve issues, conduct root cause analysis

Business Operations

  • Develop policies, procedures, controls; ensure alignment

  • Identify gaps, propose requirements for new projects

  • Resolve customer issues with tech teams

Partner operations

  • Collaborate with various teams for project support

  • Manage partner relationships, ensure performance and commitments

  • Oversee payment reconciliation processes

Risk Management

  • Collaborate on fraud risks and investigations

  • Enable risk reporting, oversight, and escalation

  • Ensure risks are mitigated or accepted appropriately

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of program or project management experience

  • 3+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience

  • 3+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL

  • Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements

  • Verbal and written communication skills at business level in English

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience

  • 3+ years of driving process improvements experience

  • Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization

  • Experience building processes, project management, and schedules

  • Verbal and written communication skills at business level in Japanese.
