Continental Mechanical Test Engineer for Autonomous Mobility (TM) in Timișoara, Romania

The Autonomous Mobility department develops products and systems based on intelligent Camera, Radar & Lidar sensors that are able to “see” and collect details from traffic in the surrounding area of the vehicles. The used sensors contain very powerful processing elements that are able to run intelligent Image, Radar and Lidar signal processing algorithms through which the high volume of information from traffic is analyzed and translated in actions and decisions which are transmitted to the driver trough visual or acoustic information or direct take the control of the vehicle brakes, acceleration and direction.

Coordinate and perform measurements and test series on mechanical assemblies according to requirements profile and specifications for tests on climatic chambers, machines (e.g. grinding, leakage test, strain measurement machine) and systems (e.g., modules), if necessary, using statistical methods (DoE=Design of Experiments) and coordinate with team, respectively project leader. If necessary, influence the definition of the specifications, respectively the deviation list in consultation with the team or project leader as early as the bidding phase.

What you'll be working on:

  • Evaluate, interpret, and document test results and discuss them with the respective development engineer or technical project leader;

  • Cooperate with universities and institutes to learn new test procedures and check their applicability in own department;

  • Introduce new measurement procedures after consulting with the team or project leader;

  • If necessary, investigate test failures by means of electrical or microscopic test methods, carry out the necessary and prepare standardized test reports;

  • Support interns, trainees and students;

  • If applicable, perform other general activities (e.g., inventory) in the area of responsibility to a limited extent;

The focus of the role is:

  • University Degree (i.e. Mechanics, Electronics, Computer Science, Physics);

  • Previous testing experience;

  • Knowledge of materials properties;

  • Good knowledge of MS Office;

  • Good communication skills, Advanced English – speaking and writing level;
