Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to:

As a Controller , you will oversee the company's finance and accounting functions including month-end close, WIP reporting and financial reporting. Responsible for overseeing accounting team procedures, and controls to ensure adherence to regulations and organization guidelines. This role will manage and develop the accounting team. This role reports to the Director of Administration.

  • Manage the month-end close process including WIP analysis and reporting, journal entries, account reconciliations, P&L analysis, and general ledger maintenance

  • Lead the preparation and review of monthly financial reporting, including weekly forecast and monthly management reporting

  • Perform analytical reviews and P&L analysis to provide meaningful insights on operating performance

  • Ensure timely preparation and review of all balance sheet reconciliations and P&L analysis according to standard close process

  • Supervise accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and general accounting team.

  • Prepare Sales Tax preparation/filing (multi states)

  • Ensure proper revenue recognition calculated through WIP reporting

  • Prepare reporting package for parent company consisting of Trial Balance, Financial Statements, Supplemental Schedules and reconciled WIP Report for Controller review

  • Prepare and complete the annual financial statement audit requirements for internal and external audit.

  • Manage annual budgeting process.

  • Ensure all accounting and financial activities are following Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Company policies and procedures.

  • Collaborate with others in accounting and finance to support overall department goals and objectives

  • Record various types of journal entries - accruing, reversing, reclassing, and adjusting

Key Requirements

Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting

  • 10 years accounting experience with at least 5 years of Controller level experience

  • Manage a minimum of $40M annual revenue

  • Experience managing accounting team of 5 or more direct reports

  • Must be detail oriented, analytical and possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Construction industry experience is required with job cost / WIP reporting and analysis ability

  • Advanced computer skills

  • Experience with Vista Viewpoint a plus

  • CPA designation nice to have
