Special Hazards Technician

The Special Hazards (SHAD) Technician will p erform inspections, service, repairs and upgrades of clean agent fire suppression and other engineered special hazards fire suppression and detection systems. Perform initial acceptance testing, programming and testing of newly installed systems. Troubleshoot and repair Fire Alarm & Special Hazards Systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Read, interpret and apply technical design requirements of fire protection codes and standards (Such as NFPA 70, 72, 2001 etc.), building codes, fire codes, insurer criteria, and other technical design documents.

  • Perform programming, start-up and commissioning of Fire Alarm & Special Hazards Systems.

  • Perform inspection and testing on Fire Alarm & Special Hazards Systems.

  • Complete inspection reports and service work orders.

  • Read and interpret building construction documents such as drawings, specifications and other contract documents.

  • Prepare lists for ordering Fire Alarm & Special Hazards Systems equipment.

  • Perform accurate surveys of Fire Alarm & Special Hazards Systems in existing buildings.

  • Coordinate activities with project manager.

    CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

  • NICET Certification in Special Hazards

  • Valid Driver's License and Clean MVR
