Description

Robert Half Finance & Accounting is seeking an experienced Senior tax Accountant to join a growing CPA firm in the Thousand oaks area. The Senior tax Staff accountant is responsible for providing thorough and precise accounting services to the firm’s clients. This position requires an individual who consistently maintains a sharp eye for detail and is quick to catch omissions and/or errors. Furthermore, the accountant must also be an effective communicator as she/he will sometimes explain various tax & accounting concepts and/or outcomes to the client and colleagues. Finally, the staff accountant must be comfortable multitasking and working in a fast-paced environment with frequent and rigid deadlines.

Essential Duties of th e Job:

  • Prepare and Review tax returns, including: Individual, Corporations, Partnerships

  • Prepare IRS and FTB response letters

  • Prepare Trust & Estate Accountings

  • Manage Trust and/or Estate Administration for clients (pay bills, make deposits, open mail, serve as liaison with trustee, vendors, and beneficiaries)

  • Prepare journal entries: depreciation and amortization schedules, reclassify capital assets from expenses

  • Make any necessary adjustments, correct client errors, record summary activity from client’s alternate accounting software system, record adjustments to books after tax return preparation has been completed to ensure that they match

  • Record basic year-end adjusting and closing entries

  • Set up new assets and record disposition of assets in Lacerte

  • Maintain timely & professional correspondence with client via phone calls, emails, client meetings, Zoom

  • Maintain current licensure/certifications and attend requisite continuing education classes

  • Invoice clients on a monthly basis, keeping within the parameters of prescribed budgets & firm policies and protocols regarding project billing

Requirements

Job Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of preparation of following tax returns: Individual, Corporations, Partnerships, Gift, Non-Profit, Fiduciaries.

  • Proficient knowledge in: 10-key, Lacerte, Office Tools, Excel & Word

  • Knowledge of trial balance software and/or ability to learn Accountants Trial Balance (ATB)

  • Basic QuickBooks knowledge, including: QuickBooks Desktop & QuickBooks Online

  • Maintains strict client confidentiality

  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills

  • Strong organization and time management skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Timely and efficient project follow through

  • Acts as a team player and understands role in the firm operation

  • Prioritizes top notch customer service

  • Works well with direction and seeks assistance when needed

  • Advanced problem solving and critical thinking skills

  • 2+ years prior experience in Public Accounting

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (preferred but not mandatory)

  • Active CPA license or CPA candidate
