Robert Half International Supply Chain Analyst in The Woodlands, Texas


Robert Half has a contract to full-time opportunity available for a Supply Chain Analyst. The Supply Chain must have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in the transportation or chemical industry and will work closely with the Purchasing Manager, Logistics Manager, and Financial Analyst. The hours are full-time Monday through Friday from 8:00-5:00 pm. Responsibilities of the Supply Chain Analyst include:

  • Investigate rejections and main point of contact on alleviating rejection reasons by carrier

  • Creation of processes to have carriers invoice in a way to avoid rejections

  • Evaluate opportunities to streamline freight payment

  • Work with the Transportation Finance Analyst to alleviate and solve any issues with the freight pay system

  • Maintain metrics that show pay system performance and trends

  • Reconciliation of carrier statements

  • Freight analysis which would review and analyze actual versus forecasted freight costs

  • Flag over accruals, double payments, etc.

  • Work with commercial team to ensure that accurate freight charges are being passed on to customers

  • Accessorial analysis which would include review freight charges and ensure pass through invoicing to customers

  • Assist Director of Logistics in minimizing accessorial costs

  • Interface with transportation carriers and facilitates communications with sales and vendors

  • Analyzes trends and provide metrics that drive continuous improvement for transportation service

  • Ensure on time payments to rail carriers to avoid interest charges

  • Work with Purchasing Manager to ensure sulfur freight is properly captured and pass through on contracts

  • Manage Freight accrual process

  • Assist Director of Logistics in creating freight spend forecasts for $70M annual freight budget

  • Analyze cost trends and make some suggestions on cost reductions

  • Work with manufacturing site to minimize accessorial charges

  • Create and maintain data book of major freight rates to customers from plants and competitor plants


  • Bachelor’s Degree highly preferred

  • Five years of Supply Chain experience

  • Experience in the chemical, petroleum, or petrochemical industry is preferred

  • Working knowledge of DOT guidelines

  • Working knowledge of Inventory Management

  • Working knowledge of TMS and Freight Pay Systems

  • SAP knowledge required

  • Advanced level of Excel

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to communicate at all levels of an organization

  • Accustomed to working independently in a fast-paced environment
