Google Program Manager, Environmental Health and Safety, Data Center in The Dalles, Oregon

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5 years of experience in risk management with Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) issues.

  • 2 years of experience in program or project management.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related discipline.

  • Credentials from Board of Certified Safety Professionals or equivalent agency.

  • Experience communicating with Federal, State, and Local Authorities regarding EHS issues.

  • Experience working with brownfield sites or with clean up (superfund) sites.

  • Experience working in a Data Center or other electrical industry.

  • Knowledge of both environmental and safety compliance.

Google Data Centers (GDC) makes up one of the largest computing infrastructures on the planet. As GDC is planning for the next wave of data center growth, it has built an effective Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) program to scale compliance and safety excellence in the design, construction, commissioning, deployment, and operations of data centers. As a member of the Data Center EHS team (DCEHS), you will be responsible for supporting EHS programs including management system implementation, environmental compliance programs, and opportunity to get involved in regional/global projects. You will play a critical part in ensuring all EHS issues are identified and addressed by working collaboratively with a cross-functional team of GDC departments and contractors to protect Google’s interests. You'll also provide program leadership and oversight to new and critical EHS initiatives to continue to create and iterate our “Google-Great” EHS program.

The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical and HVAC systems in the world. We are a diverse, upbeat, creative, team-oriented group of engineers committed to building and operating powerful data centers.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $117,000-$172,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Identify and evaluate operational EHS risks for impact to the business. Analyze risk scenarios to determine their potential impact to the business and design programs to mitigate those risks.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable EHS regulations including environmental permits/programs.

  • Investigate and analyze incident reports involving work‐related injuries, illnesses, and recommend measures to prevent recurrence.

  • Conduct assessments of existing EHS programs to ensure alignment with regional GDC strategy, including analyzing EHS business risks and identifying, describing, and estimating efficiencies to be gained through established programs.

  • Assess EHS training needs based on identified operational risks, and ensure that workforce training activities are provided to meet business and legislative requirements.
