Samaritan Daytop Village Shift Supervisor (Part-Time 24 Hrs. Thur, Fri & Sat 11pm - 7am) in The Bronx, New York

Part-Time F-80 Shift Supervisor Role - Brooklyn NY Site (Thursday, Friday and Saturday/11pm - 7am)

MAJOR FUNCTIONS :

Under general supervision, the Shift Supervisor is responsible for monitoring the specific Family Shelter program systems to ensure security, safety and efficiency of daily client services and activities. Responsibilities include monitoring and supporting all client scheduled services or activities and ensuring that all are delivered as scheduled. In addition, will ensure that all clients’ external appointments are kept and efficient program activities are coordinated. This work is carried out in support of the mission and goals of Samaritan Daytop Village

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Supervises and monitors environment to ensure that guidelines are followed and interpersonal relationships remain positive.

  • Manages daily program schedule of activities. Ensures that events occur and all parties scheduled to participate in particular activities do so.

  • Supervises and monitors facility to ensure cleanliness, security, and safety practices are enacted.

  • Conducts mandated fire drills/evacuations.

  • When indicated as per program standards/policy, administers breathalyzer tests and/or observation of urine specimen collection from clients returning from appointments or other external activities.

  • Conducts facility/safety runs and room checks to visually assess clients for use of alcohol/drugs or the environment of care for unsafe conditions.

  • Reviews internal and external scheduled client appointments for assigned shift and ensures that trips are dispatched promptly.

  • Dispatches vehicles, assuring that required agency paperwork is complete and accurate.

  • Distributes carfare for external appointments.

  • Reviews selection of appointment escorts for appropriateness.

  • Complies with 42 CFR confidentiality and HIPAA privacy and security regulations.

  • In the absence of the Food Service Staff monitors Kitchen and food preparations to insure compliance with Board of Health.

  • Performs other duties as requested.

    REQUIREMENTS :

    Education, Experience and Skills Required:

  • High School diploma or GED.

  • At least two years of experience in a Human Services preferably in an agency delivering social services or a program for treating substance use and/or homeless.

  • Good interpersonal skills to interact effectively with clients and staff

  • Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office and EMR.

  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.

  • Knowledge of DHS regulations and systems (CARES} a plus.

  • Ability to work independently.

    License/Certification Required:

  • CPR Certification.

  • FDNY F-80- Certificate of Fitness for Coordinator of Fire Safety and Alarm Systems.

  • Within 90 days of hire must obtain NYC Food Handler’s Certificate.

    Preferred Education, Experience and/or Skills:

  • College degree.

  • Knowledge of techniques for identifying and preventing potentially violent behavior, including crisis management techniques.

  • Knowledge of Clients Rights and Code of Conduct in NYC Shelter Systems.

The rate of pay is determined by several factors such as education, years of relevant experience, division, location, specialty, funding source, and credentials.
