Job Description
The College of Mount Saint Vincent is seeking Security Officers to join our Campus Safety and Security department. This position will report into the Assistant Director of Security. The Security Officer will be responsible for guarding college property, students, personnel, and guests against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry by performing the following duties.
We have opportunities available for full-time and part-time employment.
Full Time - 7am to 3pm or 3pm to 11pm scheduled shifts
Part Time - 7am to 3pm, 3pm to 11pm, 11pm to 7am scheduled shifts
Responsibilities: include but are not limited to:
Patrol periodically the buildings and grounds of the college
Monitor dormitories to maintain proper access control and ensure that authorized individuals are permitted entry
Examine doors, windows, and gates to determine they are secure
Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles and expel persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts
Inspect equipment and machinery to ascertain if any tampering has occurred
Watch for and report irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked, provide written reports of events
Observe departing personnel to guard against theft of college property
Sound the alarm and/or call the police or fire departments in the event of fire or presence of unauthorized persons
Record data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and malfunctioning of machinery/equipment for use of supervisory staff
Regulate vehicle and pedestrian traffic at college entrance and other points to maintain orderly flow
Provide security for large scale events such as Commencement and concerts
Enforce parking regulations on campus
Other duties may be assigned
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
Valid NYS Driver’s License preferred
One to three months related experience and/or training
Experience working in non-profit organizations, preferably institutions of Higher Education
Good interpersonal skills, judgment and analytical skill
Required Certifications:
New York State Certified Security Guard
New York Fire Department Certified Fire Guard (F-04)
Abilities:
Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and on an on-call basis for emergencies when needed
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, sometimes for extended periods of time
Ability to walk and stand for an extensive amount of time
Ability to work with a high degree of independence, accountability and authority
Ability to write and communicate effectively
Ability to use Google Suite and Gmail
Benefits
The allotted salary for this position is $41,600.
