The University of Mount Saint Vincent (UMSV) is excited to introduce its newly established School of Education, and we are actively searching for a visionary individual to lead as its inaugural Dean. USMV, a dynamic Catholic and ecumenical liberal arts university located in the Riverdale section of The Bronx, New York, is committed to principles of social justice and to shaping future educators who embrace these ideals. The School of Education will expand upon this commitment by providing cutting - edge programs amid at nurturing dedicated and impactful educators equipped for the demand of the 21st century.

We are in search of a dynamic and seasoned leader to spearhead the establishment and direction of the new School of Education. The Dean will play a pivotal role in defining the School's essence, designing its curriculum, and shaping its culture. This represents a unique opportunity to construct an education institution from its foundational stages, fostering an environment of progressiveness and active engagement in learning.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive strategic vision for the School of Education, aligned with UMSV's mission, core values, and Strategic Plan

  • Design and implement a forward-thinking curriculum that emphasizes innovative Teaching methods as well as equity and inclusion

  • Lead the development of new and expanded, state-approved online masters and low-residency doctoral graduate teacher education programs

  • Recruit and retain a team of outstanding faculty with expertise in various educational disciplines

  • Cultivate strong relationships with external partners, including school districts community organizations, and potential donors

  • Oversee all aspects of the Schools operations, including budgeting, personnel management, assessment, regulatory reporting, academic program development, and support of student progression and success.

  • Foster a collaborative learning environment that emphasizes student success, reflective practice, and lifelong learning

  • Maintain and attend to relevant accreditation and regulatory matters for the School of Education

Requirements

  • Terminal degree (Ed.D. or Ph.D.) in Education

  • Minimum of ten years of successful experience in higher education, with a proven track record in academic leadership and program development

  • Demonstrated expertise in curriculum design for teacher education programs

  • A strong understanding of current trends in education, including technology integration, culturally responsive pedagogy, and social-emotional learning

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and fundraising skills

  • A commitment to the mission and values of the University of Mount Saint Vincent

Benefits

The allotted annual salary range for this position is $135,000 - $140,000
