McGovern Medical SchoolatUTHealth Houstonis seeking a physician-scientist with a strong interest in translational metabolic research focused on diabetes and obesity for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in theDepartment of Internal Medicine,Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism.

The applicant must be BC/BE in Endocrinology and demonstrate a commitment to developing into an independent investigator. Opportunities for collaboration with the Brown Foundation Institute for Molecular Medicine, the NIH-sponsoredCenter for Clinical & Translational Sciences,and the affiliated schools of UTHealth Houston including theSchool of Public HealthandCenter for Healthy Aging. A competitive start-up package, protected time for research, and newly renovated laboratory space will be made available.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Translational metabolic research focused on diabetes and obesity by collaborating with others on scholarly publications and pursuing grant opportunities to support this research.

  • Care of endocrinology patients in the inpatient and outpatient settings.

  • Supervision of students, residents, and fellows in both clinic and hospital settings.

  • Participation in the Division’s intramural practice and pursuit of scholarly and research activities is strongly encouraged.

  • Clinical responsibilities at Memorial Hermann Hospital and Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital (inpatient and outpatient care).

Qualifications:

  • Texas Medical License or be eligible for a Texas Faculty Temporary License.

  • ABIM certified in Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism and demonstrate the ability for independent research.
