Amentum Electronic Technician III in Texarkana, Texas

Electronic Technician III Position description:

Performs a variety of duties involved in troubleshooting, repair, modification, rebuild, aligning and testing of electronic, electrical, electro-mechanical and mechanical and mechanical pneudraulic component units, micro-processing units, peripheral interface adapters and programmable timer modules. Systems include programmable controllers, process controllers and electro-pneumatic transmitters.

Essential Responsibilities:

Troubleshoots, repairs or replaces variety of automatic computer controller equipment and components, units/systems included are Silicon Controlled Rectifiers (SCR) speed and pump controls (DC) and hydraulic motors, mechanical and hydraulic systems, micro-processor boards, printed circuit power supplies, reviews and memory boards, modes and key processors.

Uses diagnostic programs and/or sequence methods furnished by manufacturer to determine the general nature of malfunction or fault indication.

Locates malfunction as to whether it is in the electronic, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic or mechanical malfunction.

Repairs or places faulty electronic modules and components using schematics, diagnosis, technical instructions, and manual data input and computer stored procedures.

Repairs items or returns defective unit to manufacturer for specialized testing, repairs or replacement.

Performs and operates logic testing system to perform fault isolation of digital and electronic analog modules and interfacing components.

Obtains assistance of manufacturer technical representative when guidelines are not available relative to specific circuits, their input and output tolerances.

Discusses modifications when deviations from established requirements are required.

Maintains, repair/replace special purpose hydraulic system consisting of pumps, motors, couplings and valves.

Performs functional test in accordance with manufacturer's specifications.

Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands :

Work is performed in a shop environment that is moderately lighted, heated and ventilated, is exposed to disagreeable fumes and to cuts and bruises from using tools in close placed and hazards of moving vehicles such as forklifts and sweepers in shop area. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and taste or smell. Frequently lifts items weighing 40-45 pounds and occasionally in excess of 50 pounds. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, or may include unsafe conditions, questioning nonstandard operations or environmental factors that may involve unmitigated hazards, and providing feedback to supervisors and managers on all safety issues.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.

  • Minimum three years actual and recent Industrial Electrical experience required.

  • Must possess a valid Journeyman level Electrician license.

  • Thorough knowledge of technical publications related to electronics maintenance mandatory.

  • Must have knowledge of the scopes and limitations of various categories of electronic maintenance (related maintenance functions) and their applications to the contract unit.

  • Must know theory and principles of operation of engines, accessories and components, and a thorough knowledge of electrical and electronic principles.

  • Must be capable of using and reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, and data tables.

  • Must be able to inspect, repair, and operate ground support and auxiliary equipment.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and a government background check.

  • Must be able to read, speak and write English.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC), if required.

  • Must be willing to work on shifts, weekends.

  • Clarity of written and oral expression desired.
