Raytheon Technologies Sr Tech Support Engineer I in Tewksbury, Massachusetts

Job Description:

The Materials Engineering Department provides materials and process expertise to support manufacturing processes, failure analysis, new process development, and materials selection and design.

This position is within the Materials Engineering Chemical and Mechanical Analysis Section and will require interaction with senior personnel, manufacturing engineers and operators, and chemical / material suppliers.

Activities will include destructive physical analysis, failure analysis support (electronic components), support to manufacturing processes, and material design support.

This position will require hands-on laboratory work.

Typical laboratory skills that may be required include the following:

Sample preparation

Cross section analysis using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM)

Composition analysis using Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS)

Analysis of solderable finishes (hands-on evaluation and analysis using established algorithms)

This position will be Salary Grade G08 (Senior Technical Support Engineer I).

Required Skills:

Minimum of 4 years of hands-on laboratory experience

Knowledge of Microsoft Office(Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

Technical writing skills

Ability to obtain a Security Clearance

U.S. Citizenship

Desired Skills:

Experience working within a manufacturing environment

Working knowledge of military and commercial materials and process specifications.

Knowledge of Surface Mount Technology Assembly (SMTA) processes, circuit card assembly processes, solderable finishes

Working knowledge of standard test methods (ex. ASTM or ISO)

Knowledge of Six Sigma and statistical techniques

Active DoD Clearance (Secret, Confidential)

Hands-on experience with the operation, application, and interpretation of Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS), and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) / Electron Spectroscopy for Chemical Analysis (ESCA).

Good interpersonal skills for working in team environment

Required Education (including Major):

Associates Degree required in Materials Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or other applicable Science, Technology, or Engineering discipline.

This position requires either a U.S. Person or a Non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization.
