Stanley Black and Decker Prevention Advisor Level 1 (EHS) – Belgium entities in Tessenderlo, Belgium

1. Job identification

Function: EHS Coördinator

Location: Tessenderlo - Belgium

The EHS Coördinator will report to the EHS & Facilities Manager

Reporting directly to you will be: EHS Assistant, safety coach

2. Responsibilities

  • You will be appointed as the official lead prevention advisor of the Stanley Black and Decker Logistics bvba, with a distribution center in Tessenderlo, a Service Center in Boortmeerbeek and the offices in Mechelen. You will manage the requirements described in the local legislation for occupational health and safety

  • You will act as the coördinator for any EHS related issues

  • You will maintain awareness, appropriate to the businesses of current and changing legislative requirements, and advise management on the implications in a timely manner

  • You will provide EHS advice at all stages of major engineering or change projects

  • You will work together with your Manager to ensure:

  • Compliance with regulatory requirements

  • Proper implementation of Corporate policies and programs

  • Actual implementation of improvement plans consistent with annual EHS goals established by Corporate EHS, the EMEA EHS Director and/or Product Group Managers

  • You will work together with the HR and Site Manager to drive all relevant EHS training requirements for DC Leadership and all other employees

  • You are the secretary of the monthly safety committee and will drive the activities/actions deriving it

  • You will drive the implementation of site-specific EHS Management Systems, based upon Stanley Corporate EHS Management System and Road Map

  • You will carry out incident investigations as directed by the EHS & Facilities Manager, Site Manager or official authorities in order to ensure that:

  • Appropriate actions are taken to prevent reoccurrence

  • Relevant risk assessments are reviewed

  • Safe operating procedures are reviewed

  • You will assist in site surveys, inspections and audits carried out by qualified consultants (e.g. for Corporate Inspections), authorities and other parties, and ensure the accurate and timely submission of data required by these third parties

  • You will be responsible for coordinating EHS audits (including external compliance audits), conducting the audit or contracting qualified external EHS consultants and follow-up of actions arising from those audits

  • You will provide technical guidance for facilities in selecting and evaluating main EHS vendors

  • You will ensure accurate and timely communication regarding EHS matters and performance

  • You will support the European Product Stewardship Manager in obtaining accurate product information required for reporting purposes

  • You will represent your facility during regional and/or corporate EHS councils

4. Qualifications

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electricity or Electro mechanics)

  • You have a minimum of 3 years of experience in EHS

  • Level I Prevention Advisor

  • In-depth knowledge of management system requirements

  • You have a basic knowledge of Lean Six Sigma

  • You have strong technical skills

  • You are a team player and you are social and communicative

  • You follow the rules and you have a helicopter view

  • You are able to influence people and you lead by example

  • You are fluent in Dutch and English
