The Unit Administrative Assistant - ER Admin plays a key role in providing the highest quality of patient care while the patient is at Union Health. The Emergency Department at Union Hospital provides emergency care for patients of all ages, treating various common illnesses and injuries, and performing immediate treatment and lifesaving procedures in all types of emergency situations. The department also serves as the initial access point for their Certified Primary Stroke Center, Accredited Chest Pain center with PCI, and Verified Level III Trauma Center.

    Unit Administrative Assistant - ER Admin Details

    Essential Job Duties: Anticipates activity flow in the department. Responsible for general clerical duties and comprehensive administrative support for the service line.

    Administrative Support : Perform assigned and comprehensive administrative functions.

    a. Establishes and maintains up to date files, records, and systems.

    b. Handles the logistics of meetings, assuring proper accommodations for meetings-this includes room reservations and equipment request as necessary, as well as ensures preparation of agendas and required materials.

    c. Opens, screens, and routes incoming mail and processing of outgoing mail.

    d. Coordinates and maintains the department supply inventory.

    e. Attends various meetings, as requested, and prepares minutes of the same.

    f. Maintain daily/weekly/monthly reports that are required by facility.

    Policy and Procedure:

    a. Maintain departmental policies via online system and facilitate timely review. Add new, edit current, and route policies to appropriate administrative staff.

    Correspondence:

    a. Composes and edits a variety of correspondence within areas of expertise and compiles supporting documentation for correspondence and reports.

    b. Types and edits a variety of correspondence, memorandums, reports, schedules, etc. for department.

    Qualifications:

  • Graduate or equivalent to High School Diploma required. Associates or Bachelor's in Business Administration preferred.

  • Minimum one year in medical office setting preferred. Experience with electronic medical records preferred.

  • Valid and current driver's license required.

  • Proficiency with standard business software (Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Must be dependable and have professional appearance and demeanor. Must possess ability to handle sensitive situation and confidential information.
