About you and this role

We have an exciting opportunity for aMaterials Welding Specialistto join the Fixed Asset Integrity team in Terneuzen, The Netherlands.

As a Materials Welding Specialist you provide technical support to asset owners and the inspection department. In this role you are a valuable contributor regarding reliability, integrity, and safety of our process installations by providing expertise on welding of materials, checking welding documents, witnessing repairs and new fabrications and performing shop audits.

You play an important role in the global mechanical integrity objective of eliminating process safety containment events, improving regulatory and GMISS compliance and reducing equipment failure and business impact.

For this role you will be working closely together with the Terneuzen KVG Team but outside the KVG NEN-EN-ISO/IEC17020 accreditation.

We are looking for someone that will act as a knowledge carrier and has great willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Review of Welding Procedure Specifications, Procedure Qualification Records and Welders qualifications.

  • Provide welding advice for repair and modification of pressure equipment and piping.

  • Advise on materials of construction to be used in the Chemical Process Industry.

  • Performing Fitness for Service basics.

  • Advise on types of inspection on process equipment for various failure modes, such as Ultrasonic Thickness, Dye Penetrant, Eddy Current, Radiography, etc.

  • Provide specialist recommendations with regards to metallurgy and Heat Treatment of various metals.

  • Advise on manufacturing methods for plate, pipe, forgings, and fittings.

  • Perform metallurgical laboratory testing.

  • Advise on mechanical testing methods.

  • Collaborate on failure mode and effect analyses.

  • Provide advice and recommendations with regards to chemical reactions in the field of metallurgy.

  • Provide specialist advice and recommendations with regards to High Temperature Effects such as oxidation, graphitization, sensitization, creep, etc.

  • You provide specialist trainings in the field of welding procedures and metallurgy.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in materials or chemical engineering.

  • International Welding Engineer (IWE) certificate or equivalent.

  • Technical knowhow and practical experience of materials and welding.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in petrochemical industry.

  • Ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Fluent in English and proficient in Dutch or willingness to learn.

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software.
