We are currently hiring a Sr Engineering Manager for our Tempe, Arizona site. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team of engineers and technicians focused on developing and sustaining microelectronics assembly technology and processes for use in implantable medical devices.

A Day in the Life

As Sr Engineering Manager , you will lead a microelectronics process engineering team who work to manage and improve quality, reliability, performance, and yields for microelectronic circuits for use in implantable medical devices. The group you will lead is comprised of a team of approximately 20 engineers and technicians.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Hire, lead, grow and manage a highly talented, diverse, world-class performance engineering team responsible for microelectronic circuit manufacturing for Cardiovascular and Neurological implantable medical devices

  • Drive innovation to realize manufacturing simplification and efficiency on existing processes

  • Partner with internal and external experts to maintain and strengthen relevant technical expertise

  • Coach, mentor, and challenge Engineers within the group on all technical and schedule deliverables

  • Contribute to project decision-making using personal expertise, customer input, and feasibility assessment

  • Actively mentor, coach, and ensure career development plans are in place for direct reports

  • Manage functional cost center budget and resource allocation

  • Understand and comply with company policies & procedures and external standards & guidance

  • Generate novel and unique solutions to both engineering and organizational challenges

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required in a technical discipline

  • Minimum of 7 years of Engineering in Manufacturing or Operations environments with 5+ years of people management experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of Engineering in Manufacturing or Operations environments with 5+ years of people management experience

Nice to Have

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or Material Science

  • Medical device manufacturing experience

  • Previous people management experience focused on both people development and performance management

  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 (Quality Management Systems – Requirements)

  • Application experience with DOE, SPC, Gage R&R, DRM/DFSS Principles
