Job Summary

The role of the Print Production Design Lead is to support the Design Manager in overseeing the design and pre-production processes of the team, while actively participating in the day-to-day operations. Responsibilities include preflight client-provided artwork, engaging in production design with a focus on adjusting or fixing client files, as well as template building, color testing, and other related tasks. This position encompasses a wide range of projects, including event signage, environmental graphics, comprehensive sign packages, wayfinding, vehicle and fleet graphics, and various large format digital applications. In addition, the Print Production Design Lead will have supervisory duties that involve collaborating with various stakeholders such as Project Managers, Solutions Group, Sales Representatives, Production staff, clients, and vendors, to ensure project objectives are met.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance, training, support and feedback to ensure teams productivity and growth

  • Ensure collaborative working with other departments

  • Assist in training of new team members as well as continued development for existing team members

  • Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support to the Design team

  • Assist in developing and implementing process and procedures to streamline workflows, improve efficiency, and minimize errors

  • Must be capable of owning the design aspect of a large event or activation (color testing, templates, custom products, production discussions and implementation of special processes)

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preflight and production design from supplied resources, and or edit graphics to client’s satisfaction

  • Prepare proofs, job inventory sheets, mock-ups, and Install diagrams for jobs as necessary

  • Manage daily workflow and deadlines and execute your share of daily jobs

  • Template building with a focus on identifying important or difficult areas for production/install

  • Basic understanding of color settings, modes, and spot colors for file consistency

  • Ability to process vehicle wraps, basic building wraps, or environmental graphic activations

  • Familiarity with wayfinding job flow, proofing, and file processing

  • Attend weekly or daily team meetings

  • Maintain a consistent and timely workflow on all projects assigned to your, a positive approach to team projects and goals, a great attitude that promotes a great work environment

  • Maintain extensive knowledge to all bluemedia products and services

  • Maintain solid client and company records

  • Daily staff and client interaction

  • Assist in any and all jobs as needed

  • Aid related departments when necessary

  • Assist/attend client or internal meetings when needed

  • Maintain working knowledge of proprietary software and company workflows 

  • Continue growth by developing new skills, learning new software, processes and/or other industry standards

  • Must be flexible and willing to work the demands of the department which may be subject to evenings, weekends and holidays.

    Education and Experience:

  • Associates Degree in Design relevant field or similar experience

  • 6+ years’ experience in print production is preferred

    Physical Requirements:

  • Exposed to a normal office environment, attached manufacturing warehouse.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times

  • Travel required based on business needs
