Overview of the Position:

The Technician III will perform a variety of aircraft component repair processes, in accordance with approved documentation, PHS/MWA procedures, and applicable FAA regulations. Has demonstrated a high level of proficiency through job-related work experience. Shows adaptability and ability to learn knowledge and skills outside of original core competency. Completes work with a limited degree of supervision; regularly provides guidance to others with less experience. May act as a formal or informal resource for colleagues with less experience. The Technician III has the responsibility and authority to perform assigned tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform and properly document parts maintenance functions under guidance, to include: disassembly, cleaning, inspections, WO evaluation, ordering required parts, piece part repair, and testing, in compliance with specific approved documentation and procedures.

  • Demonstrated ability and motivation to train and instruct others in areas of competency.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.

  • Ensure training records are created whenever OJT training is initiated, and ensuring completed records when proficiency is established.

  • Perform all tasks in a manner that complies with PHS safety and employee policies.

  • Identify and request consumables or tooling needed in the repair process prior to needing it (if applicable).

  • Perform other tasks, as required.

    Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Estimated 2-5 years as technician OR equivalent OJT experience. Positive and Ambitious outlook with willingness and ability to share knowledge with others. Demonstrates breadth of knowledge and versatility across a product line or lines. Ability to qualify for Certified Repairman certificate when applicable.

  • Interpersonal Skills - Focuses on solving conflict, not blaming; Remains open to others' ideas and tries new things.

  • Planning/Organizing - Prioritizes and plans work activities; Uses time efficiently; able to multi-task and change priorities as required by customer driven demands.

  • Work overtime as required by production requirements, at times without notice.

  • Must be capable of safely using and instructing use of standard tools to include, but not limited to; screwdrivers, wrenches, ratchets and sockets, torque drivers and wrenches, multi-meters, soldering irons, micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, flow meters, psi gauges, temperature measurement, safety wire pliers, or any other tool required for a particular maintenance function.

  • Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Must be able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Computer Skills: Basic skills including ability to become proficient in job related use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Quantum ERP System

    Education / Experience Requirements:

    High school diploma or GED; prefer related college courses, technical certificates, or associate degree; 2-4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Language Skills:

    Ability to read and interpret federal regulations, customer documents, engineering drawings, manufacturer’s maintenance manuals, safety rules, and procedure manuals as required. Must be able to give verbal and written instruction and feedback to team members. Aviation maintenance requires proficiency in reading and creating documentation in the English language.

    Mathematical Skills:

    Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to utilize and interpret readings from inspection measurement tools compared to measurements specified in approved documents.

    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to ask questions and seek clarification when required.
