Job Summary:
A laboratory scientist or engineer with an understanding of modern principles and techniques used for the analytical characterization of monoclonal IgG antibodies. The ideal candidate is motivated by a dynamic, fast-paced environment and a collegial team-oriented approach. He/she will execute analytical experiments in support of manufacturing process development and characterization efforts within the department. He/she also takes the initiative to design and implement continuous improvements that further the capabilities of the analytics team.
Job Duties:
Designs, executes, and leads multiple analytical development projects with supervision
Participates in small project teams (1-2 people)
Analyzes and interprets results and designs well-controlled experiments based on previous results
Contributes to project advancement by developing new methods or technologies, and troubleshooting
Suggests modifications to protocols or alternative protocols
Routinely works on multiple projects simultaneously
Communicates experimental results, conclusions, and ideas directly to supervisor, "project team" members, and scientists and engineers in other laboratories
Presents at department meetings
Capable of clear, concise scientific writing
Stays current with the latest scientific and engineering developments in field by reading the current literature and attending seminars or conferences
Has cross-functional knowledge and skills, consistently making contributions to his/her functional area
Contributes to continuous improvement efforts within functional area
Job Requirements:
BS w/ 3-5 yrs industry experience; MS w/ 0-2 yrs
Possesses a working knowledge of the scientific method and modern analytical techniques for monoclonal antibody characterization
Basic knowledge of statistical analysis
Working knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE) a plus
Possesses a working knowledge of column chromatography, electrophoresis, and ELISA principles
Working skillset in laboratory bench technique, including but not limited to: single-channel and multi-channel pipetting, spectrophotometry, and preparation of buffers
Enjoys working in small project teams and cooperatively/collaboratively with peers
Possesses excellent organizational, communication, analytical, and computer skills
Proficiency in software for statistics (e.g. JMP) and/or liquid chromatography control (e.g. Empower, Chemstation, Chromeleon) a plus
Experience using automated liquid handlers (e.g. Hamilton, Tecan) a plus
Coding experience using RStudio, Python, Matlab, or similar platforms a plus
