We continued as a full high quality Mechanical Contractor providing HVAC, Plumbing and Medical Gas piping, equipment installations and Certification of Medical Facilities, Hospitals and Nursing Care Centers throughout the state of Florida and beyond as our customers’ needs prevail. Job Description:

We are currently seeking skilled Insulators with a minimum of 2 years’ experience specific to new construction in the Tampa area. The Insulator must be able to apply insulating materials such as fiberglass, Armaflex, foam glass and rubber to pipes or ductwork, or other mechanical systems on both high and low pressure pipes that carry hot water, chilled water, steam and other liquid gases, especially those in commercial medical facilities; Work in high places and enclosed spaces, climbing, bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, lifting and working in extreme temperature ranges.

Duties and Responsibilities:

•Measure and cut insulation for covering surfaces, using tape measures, handsaws, knives and scissor.

• Remove or seal off old asbestos insulation, following safety procedures.

• Fit insulation around obstructions and shape insulating materials and protective coverings as required.

•Determine the amounts and types of insulation needed and methods of installation, based on factors such as location, surface shape and equipment use.

•Install sheet metal around insulated pipes with screws in order to protect the insulation from weather conditions or physical damage.

•Apply, remove and repair insulation on industrial equipment, pipes, ductwork or other mechanical systems.

•Select appropriate insulation based on the heat/cold retaining or excluding characteristics of the material.

•Read blueprints and specifications to determine job requirements.

•Cover, seal or finish insulated surfaces or access holes with plastic covers, canvas stripes, sealants, tape, cement or asphalt mastic.

•Prepare surfaces for insulation application by brushing or spreading on adhesives, cement or asphalt or by attaching metal pins to surfaces.

•Distribute insulating materials evenly into small spaces within floors, ceilings or walls, using blowers and hose attachments or cement mortar.

Requirements:

•2 years’ field experience specific to Medical Facilities.

•Must have a working knowledge of building and mechanical codes and be able to evaluate information to determine compliance with standards.

•Must possess a current valid driver’s license.

•Flexibility for travel and working overtime/weekends, as required.

•Must have own personal hand tools.

•Ability to comprehend schematics, diagrams, blueprints and other specifications required by contract documents.

•Make decisions and solve problems regarding scheduling work activities.

•Perform general physical activities including climbing ladders, lifting and carrying 50 lbs.

•Must effectively communicate with others including supervisors and co-workers.
