Location:

As a member of Wilson-s Literacy Team, the Literacy Specialist conducts Wilson professional learning programs to educators throughout the country. Professional learning is provided in person at the client site or a public venue as well as via the web using distance learning technology. The Literacy Specialist provides presentations, training, coaching, and virtual support to Wilson clients in a variety of settings including instructor-led and virtual training, telephone, and email. Travel and office hours required. This position is based out of the employee-s own home office.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Conducts Fundations- and Just Words- professional learning programs for teachers and school faculty as part of Wilson implementation plans to ensure fidelity, support instruction, and strengthen student results. Professional learning is provided in person at a client site or public venue as well as via the web using distance technology.

  • If a Wilson- Credentialed Trainer (W.C.T.), conducts Wilson Reading System- professional learning programs including workshops and WRS Level I and Level II Certification, as determined by current eligibility status.

  • Works closely with school administrators and Wilson Literacy Advisors to schedule professional learning services.

  • Provides instructor-led workshops and study group meetings following well-defined guidelines.

  • Provides in-classroom coaching and Fundations and Just Words certifications following well-defined guidelines and Wilson-s Coaching Framework.

  • Facilitates goal setting with teachers during coaching and Facilitator certification visits.

  • If assigned, provides virtual support via Wilson Virtual Support platform following guidelines.

  • Maintains regular office hours each month. During this time, a variety of duties will be carried out including, but not limited to:

  • consult as needed with former and current participants enrolled in professional learning programs

  • answer program and instruction inquiries from teachers, parents, and others, as assigned

  • attending meetings via phone or web

  • schedule travel, complete and submit monthly expense reports

  • update all stakeholders regarding professional learning delivery assignments

  • Works with Wilson field consultants (Literacy Advisors) to support the implementation of Wilson programs in schools and organizations as defined in Wilson implementation plans.

  • Represents Wilson at conferences and exhibits across the country.

  • Delivers presentations at conferences as a representative of Wilson.

  • Works closely with Professional Learning Implementation Leader to continually enhance presentation and coaching skills.

  • Keeps abreast of educational trends and activities in (Prevention/ Intervention/Remedial-Dyslexic), K-12 and Adult

  • Maintains close and effective working relationships with the Literacy Specialist team, the Literacy Advisors, Implementation Teams, and the Fidelity Team.

  • Understand and display WLT-s values

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

Skills:

  • To conduct Wilson Reading System- professional learning: Wilson Reading System- Level II Certification - current Wilson- Dyslexia Therapist (W.D.T.) credential a plus

  • To conduct Fundations- professional learning: Five or more years of Fundations- classroom teaching experience within the past five years. - Current Fundations- Facilitator or Presenter credential a plus; WRS classroom teaching within the past 5 years a plus

  • To conduct Just Words professional learning: Just Words Facilitator or Presenter credential a plus; WRS classroom teaching within the past 5 years a plus

  • Able to travel on a weekly basis - up to 70% or more.

  • Willing to participate in onboarding coaching and ongoing training requirements as needed.

  • Knowledge of multisensory structured language pedagogy and a -natural- with structured literacy teaching.

  • Background and experience in literacy.

  • Outstanding presentation skills

  • Experience instructing, guiding, and mentoring educational professionals and presenting to adults.

  • Able to work with both teachers and students.

  • Able to provide constructive feedback.

  • Able to handle multiple assignments and projects.

  • Strong scheduling and organizational skills.

  • Able to work individually and as a team member.

  • Understands a broad scope of literacy issues.

  • Experience working with school administrators a plus.

Education or Certification:

  • Bachelor-s degree in Education or related field, required

  • Master-s degree in Education or related field, preferred

  • Concentration in Reading a plus

Actual pay, and allocation between base and any target discretionary bonus, will vary based on geographic location, education, work experience, skills, market data, and internal equity considerations.
