D uties and Responsibilities

The Classification and Compensation Analyst serves as a subject matter expert, senior analyst, and strategic partner for the administration of the Department’s compensation and classification programs and structures. In this role you will provide consultation to managers and senior leadership regarding classification and compensation decisions, recommend solutions and approaches that fulfill program objectives while meeting consistency and regulatory compliance standards, stay current on HR topics, economic and labor market trends, laws, regulations and other factors related to ensuring the organization provides competitive and reasonable compensation scales and position classification structures, serve as a principal analyst on matters concerning compensation which includes analyzing internal salary and external market data from multiple sources and providing recommendations on internal equity and parity inquiries, determining appropriate compensations levels for positions, incentive/pay strategies all while conducting detailed analysis of position management requests to include assessing position responsibilities and qualifications, conducting position equivalency and salary level benchmarking research, determining appropriate classification, and providing written assessments of the recommended course of action to management.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to self-regulate, multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively to meet deadlines and achieve desired outcomes.

  • Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret qualitative and quantitative data, develop logical conclusions and make sound recommendations, and effectively summarize and support recommendations and findings in writing.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn and apply the principles, practices, and techniques of classification and compensation administration.

  • Ability to establish and maintain professional, collaborative, and productive working relationships with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.

  • Ability to maintain an open and adaptive disposition in the face of change, to cope well with pressure, ambiguity, and the unexpected, and to bounce back quickly from setbacks and adversity.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and apply discretion when handling sensitive information.

    Job Related Requirements

  • The position you are applying is subject to a Level 2 background check, along with Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) clearance, to include a fingerprint-based check of the criminal records of the FBI, as a condition of employment pursuant to Chapter 110.1127, 435 and 943, Florida Statutes. Please note that, since this position requires CJIS clearance, the Department will have access to all an applicant’s criminal and juvenile delinquency records, even those that have been sealed or expunged.

    General Information

  • The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.

  • Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI. Fingerprints and associated information/biometrics will be retained in the FBI’s Next Generation Identification (NGI) system and fingerprints may continue to be compared against fingerprints submitted to or retained by NGI.

  • FLHSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month. All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s. 110.113 Florida Statutes.
