Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for providing operational and procedural support to the Newborn Screening Hearing program in the Bureau of Early Steps and Newborn Screening, Division of Children's Medical Services for data analysis and programmatic system operations. The incumbent in this position must be able to work independently, must have the ability to organize and prioritize workload, be capable of ensuring continuity of work in the absence of supervision, and demonstrate sound judgement and initiative in the performance of these duties.

Complete daily quality assurance monitoring and data validation activities within the Early Hearing Detection & Intervention (EHDI) data system.

Implement grant requirements related to special data projects, Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping, and Epidemiological data analysis for EHDI data system and various related systems for coordination.

Complete vital statistics matching maintenance and linking specimens in the EHDI data system.

Coordinate with contracted vendor and division data analyst to ensure data quality and accessibility of the EHDI data system.

Track data for grant reporting, track eReports data, and website reporting.

Update individual hospital and audiologist performance data and print hospital and audiology congratulation certificates monthly for high performing practices.

Develop annual program summary report. Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of methods of compiling, organizing and analyzing data. Knowledge of epidemiological methods. Statistical skills to be able to analyze, evaluate, and interpret data. Ability to prepare various reports and statistical data. Ability to organize data in logical format for presentation in reports, documents and other written materials. Experience preparing and presenting technical and non-technical information to diverse audiences. Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to schedule and coordinate assigned work responsibilities. Ability to work independently. Knowledge of office procedures. Knowledge of correct spelling, punctuation and grammar usage. Knowledge of personal computers and software. Ability to handle telephone calls in a courteous and effective manner. Ability to read, understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Ability to organize and maintain filing systems. Ability to compose correspondence. Ability to determine work priorities and ensure completion of assignments. Ability to review work for accuracy and quality of content.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in one of the following: Public Health, Epidemiology, Healthcare Administration, Computer Science, Technology, or a related field. Preference given for Python coding experience.

  • Preferred: Two years of professional experience analyzing health data, including creating graphs/charts and preparing reports of statistical data.

  • Preferred: Two years of professional experience preparing and presenting technical and non-technical information to diverse audiences.

  • Preferred: One year of professional experience planning, implementing, and evaluating continuous quality improvement activities.
