Position: Athletic Trainer Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind

ABOUT ALABAMA INSTITUTE FOR DEAF AND BLIND (AIDB) Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind (AIDB) is the worlds most comprehensive education, rehabilitation and service program serving individuals of all ages who are Deaf, Blind, DeafBlind and multidisabled and their families. Founded in 1858, AIDB serves more than 36,000 infants, toddlers, children, adults and seniors with hearing and vision loss throughout Alabama each year.

Our services literally span a lifetime including five campuses in Talladega, ten regional centers located throughout the State of Alabama with programs that range from early and senior intervention, traditional and nontraditional education services in residential and outreach settings and a manufacturing facility that is the states largest employer of adults who are Deaf, Blind, or DeafBlind. Basic Requirements:**

  • Must be eligible to hold state licensure In Athletic Training.
  • Proof of National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) Board of Certification (BOC) certification.
  • Must be physically able to assist students as required.
  • Must hold a First Aid and CPR certification and maintain current certification.
  • Must hold AED Certification.
  • NATA Board of Certification (BOC) Certified or able to sit for NATA Board of Certification (BOC).
  • Exceptional Communication Skills.
  • Maybe required to obtain a CDL bus driver's license.
  • A minimum sign language proficiency level of SURVIVAL according to the AIDB evaluation system must be obtained within the first six (6) months of employment. Sign language proficiency level of INTERMEDIATE according to the AIDB evaluation system must be obtained within the first twelve (12) months of employment. Sign language proficiency level of INTERMEDIATE PLUS according to the AIDB evaluation system must be obtained within the first twenty four (24) months of employment.

Preferred *Requirements:*

  • Experience as an Athletic Trainer is desired.
  • A Bachelor's degree In Athletic Training is desired .
  • A Master's degree In Athletic Training is desired.

Performance Responsibilities:

Must be willing to work with administration and coaches to develop a schedule to work with youth programs at ASB, ASD, and HKS.

Maintain Athletic Trainer certification in accordance with the NATA Board of Certification (BOC) guidelines.

Must be willing to work a flexible schedule. Athletic Training will require after school hours and weekends

Must attend AHSAA and other required coaches and athletic trainer clin
