Microsoft’s Cloud business is experiencing explosive growth, and the Capacity, Supply Chain & Provisioning (CSCP) organization is responsible for enabling the infrastructure underlying this growth. Our mission is to deliver the world’s computer with an industry-leading supply chain. CSCP is responsible for strategic sourcing, customer demand forecasting, capacity planning and management, supply chain planning and execution, capacity provisioning, and decommissioning and dispositioning of datacenter assets worldwide.

CS4 (Cloud Sourcing, Spares, Sustainability, & Security) organization within CSCP manages sourcing and supply of IT hardware for the data centers. Well-defined and executed sourcing and supply chain management ensures reliable on-time performance, optimized cost, prevents urgent and unplanned investments, and provides accurate and timely information across the supply base and internally across the infrastructure organization. Our focus is on smart growth, high efficiency, and delivering a trusted experience to customers and partners worldwide. We are looking for a passionate, high energy supply chain professional to help build create sustainable advantage through supply chain.

The role of sourcing manager will be focusing on key areas:

• Category management of optics component supplier of our selection (50%)

• Supplier relationship and sourcing operation (30%)

• Development of COS strategy and execution (20%)

Meanwhile, s/he needs to provide thought leadership and drive strategic initiatives with internal stakeholders and suppliers to support cloud supply chain overall objectives and strategies

Responsibilities

• Sourcing management

o Engage with cross functional leadership including product design, quality, business teams to determine sourcing requirements

o Focusing on category/commodity sourcing for new or sustaining programs to ensure advantaged cost and sufficient continuity of supply

o Define RFQ / RFP activities and direct system integrator sourcing team to conduct negotiations with suppliers

o Manage contracting activities with Legal and ensure contract reflect MSFT’s cross functional engagements with suppliers

• Cost and operations management

o Set up savings targets for the categories managed and drive sourcing managers to deliver the result

o Identify cost reduction opportunities and drive supplier for cost competitiveness with sourcing tools (e.g. Cost modeling)

o Run weekly, monthly, quarter review with team on cost and operations KPIs

o Manage ad-hoc cost issues e.g. tariffs / import export cost, cost inflation

o Support cost and supply chain operations needs relevant to system integrators e.g. invoice, PO, inventory requirements

o Continuous improvement of operations processes

• Manage supplier performance and compliance

o Develop and enable new suppliers

o MSFT’s central point of contact of supplier relationship in key categories / commodities

o Ensure supplier compliant with MSFT requirements (E.g. security, social responsibility, payment terms)

o Conduct business review discussions

o Ensure supplier deliver corrective actions on time from business review / audits

o Support CSSC teams to drive suppliers toward their operational and cost metrics

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

•5+ years of technical engineering experience

o OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years of technical engineering experience

o OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

• Extensive knowledge in hardware sourcing and supply chain

• Demonstrated track record in supplier negotiation and management

• Proven capabilities in operating in a growing, fast-paced, results-oriented environment

• Distinctive problem solving leadership and analytical thinking for continuous improvement

• Strong influencing skills and ability to build lasting relationships across multiple layers in the organization

• Excellent communication and synthesizing skills of both written and verbal

• Familiar with business tools (e.g. word, excel modeling, power point slides) and able to generate quality outputs
