Google Power Test Engineer, Google Cloud in Taipei, Taiwan

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and Power Electronics, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 2 years of experience working in the design of power electronics or validation areas, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Power Electronics, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 10 years of experience working in the power electronics industry in design or validation areas.

  • Understanding of high power/current power distribution networking design and architecture in Data Center deployment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and people management skills.

Platform team is the key to designing Google proprietary cutting-edge compute and storage machines to fulfill Google Data Center internal use and external Cloud customers. As a Power Test Engineer, you will ensure the quality and reliability of the design of the Google proprietary rack power architecture including AC-DC rectifiers, power shelf, and other power distribution system, and onboard DC-DC converter design and can meet the stringent requirements.

  • Collaborate with the Power Design team both in the US and Taiwan to understand the design architecture and define the correct test methodology.

  • Perform the bench level testing to characterize the separate components such as AC-DC rectifiers, power shelf, etc. Perform the rack level testing to validate system behaviors.

  • Collaborate and coordinate with the power modules and rectifier vendors and Joint Design Manufacturers to align the test plan, review the test result, and discuss/define the specification.

  • Collaborate with the equipment vendors to propose the new test methodology and understand the state-of-the-art test equipment/instrument/test fixture/jigs.
