The Capacity Supply Chain and Provisioning (CSCP) group is an exciting and fast evolving group within Microsoft whose vision is to empower customers to achieve more by delivering cloud capacity differentiated at scale. The organization is responsible for planning, delivery and provision of all data centers globally powering Microsoft cloud properties. CSCP supports over 200 online businesses including Bing, O365, OneDrive, Xbox and Windows Azure branded services.

Cloud Sourcing and Supply Chain (CSSC) organization within CSCP manages sourcing and supply of IT hardware for the data centers. Well-defined and executed sourcing and supply chain management ensures reliable on-time performance, optimized cost, prevents urgent and unplanned investments, and provides accurate and timely information across the supply base and internally across the infrastructure organization. The role of Sr. Network Qualification Lab Optical advance package Engineer will be focusing on key areas:

  • The thermal/mechanical and electrical design, analysis, CPI validation of advance node Si, and development of electronic packages.

  • Experience prioritizing concurrent activities and focus to align with business and organization goals.

  • Knowledge in the following fields: corrugated and paperboard package design, package adhesives, protective films, packaging process and fixture development, paper printing decoration and treatments.

  • Defines and analyze overall package performance and realizes technology certification through layout design and test vehicle design.

Meanwhile, s/he needs to provide thought leadership and drive strategic initiatives with internal stakeholders and suppliers to support cloud supply chain overall objectives and strategies.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities:

  • Generate the technical assessment with foundational knowledge of electronic product, optical and automated packaging.

  • Design, analyze, and document sustainable packaging components and assemblies to A business proposal.

  • Inputs for innovation and optimization of optics sub-system concepts to maximize the system-level performance.

  • Review of supplier production line and provide inputs.

  • Partnering with internal project stakeholders

  • Partnering and technical steering of external stakeholders such as subcontractors and subsystem suppliers

  • Provide technical inputs to business sourcing manager for business strategies.

Qualifications

Core skills:

  • In depth understanding of packaging design, being able to take technical discussions.

  • Able to translate standard bodies spec into test scope and development the test methodology.

  • Hands on experience with packaging production line and how it shows on performance results

  • Ability to review supplier production line and test reports.

  • Enthusiasm for getting “hands on” with your team in collaboration environments.

  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Major experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication/electrical engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 8 years of experience with advance package and optical package design.

  • Experience prioritizing concurrent activities and focus to align with business and organization goals.

  • Knowledge in the following fields: corrugated and paperboard package design, package adhesives, protective films, packaging process and fixture development, paper printing decoration and treatments.

  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills.
