As a Disaster Recovery Coordinator, you will play a critical role in developing, implementing, and maintaining robust disaster recovery plans to ensure the resilience of our organization's IT infrastructure and business operations. Your focus will be on minimizing the impact of potential disruptions and ensuring a swift and effective recovery in the event of a disaster or unforeseen incident.

The Role

  1. Disaster Recovery Planning:

  2. Develop and maintain comprehensive disaster recovery plans, including IT systems, data, and business processes.

  3. Collaborate with IT teams and business units to identify critical systems and prioritize recovery objectives.

  4. Risk Assessment and Analysis:

  5. Conduct risk assessments to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities that could impact business continuity.

  6. Analyse the potential impact of disasters on IT infrastructure and business operations.

  7. Plan Testing and Validation:

  8. Coordinate and conduct regular testing of disaster recovery plans to ensure their effectiveness.

  9. Document and analyse test results, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary adjustments.

  10. Incident Response Coordination:

  11. Act as the central point of contact during a disaster or incident, coordinating the response efforts of IT and business teams.

  12. Ensure timely communication and escalation of incidents to key stakeholders.

  13. Documentation and Reporting:

  14. Maintain up-to-date documentation of all disaster recovery plans, procedures, and contact information.

  15. Generate regular reports on the status of disaster recovery preparedness and testing.

  16. Training and Awareness:

  17. Conduct training sessions for relevant teams to ensure awareness of disaster recovery plans and procedures.

  18. Provide guidance and support to employees during testing and actual disaster recovery situations.

  19. Technology Evaluation:

  20. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and solutions related to disaster recovery.

  21. Evaluate and recommend new tools or approaches to enhance the effectiveness of disaster recovery efforts.

The Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business Continuity Management, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in disaster recovery planning and coordination.

  • Familiarity with industry best practices, standards, and regulations related to disaster recovery.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Certification in Business Continuity Management (CBCP) or related field is a plus.
