This role in summary

As a Network Security Engineer you will be responsible for the management and security configuration of network platforms and technology to effectively protect network boundaries (internal and external) against threats. This includes but is not limited to Next Generation Firewalls, Network Access Controls, Remote Access, SDN infrastructure, SIEM, IDS/IPS, Virtual Private Networks and various network and cloud security solutions. Also as the subject matter expert of network security you will represent cybersecurity in many different forums and play a key role in the improvement to the organization's overall global risk posture.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Formalize a network security strategy, roadmap and governance processes for network security protection controls

  • Ensure a baseline of network security controls are configured as part of new device provisioning and continuously enforced and monitored (Standards & Baseline).

  • Ensure network architecture is implemented in alignment to security architecture standards and policies.

  • Confirm network traffic is explicitly permitted and approved through security governance processes (Firewall)

  • Ensure networks are properly segmented in accordance with defined requirements (Network Segmentations)

  • Certify access to the network is controlled in accordance with defined requirements (NAC)

  • Ensure unauthorized and/or unapproved devices connected to the network are detected and removed (Rogue Access)

  • Verify relevant security information and logs are transmitted to centralized monitoring solutions.

  • Verify that our network security practices, strategy and tools meet all industry regulations, standards and compliance requirements.

  • Represent network security to stakeholders in multiple forums that include networking topics.

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in computer science, computer engineering, information systems or equivalent.

  • 2+ years of cybersecurity engineering experience, with a background in network security engineering.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with both technology/development and business partners.

  • Strong relationship, team building and facilitation skills.

  • Ability to independently influence others to achieve objectives.

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Knowledge of information security management frameworks (example: ISO 27001/NIST CSF).

  • High level of personal integrity, and the ability to professionally handle confidential matters and show an appropriate level of judgment and maturity.

  • Knowledge of TCP/ IP, NAT, OSI model, device hardening, transport and at rest encryption.

Preferred skills and experiences

  • Security certifications to include: CISSP, CISM, Security+,

  • Networking certifications to include: Network+, CCNA, CCIE, CCNP

  • Master's degree in a management, scientific, technical, or engineering field.

  • 3+ years of network security experience;

  • Solid experience with networkin.
