Syracuse University Senior Network Engineer in Syracuse, New York

Information Technology Services (ITS) at Syracuse University seeks applicants for a Senior Network Engineer. The position is responsible for design, architecture and development of the University's large scale, complex network, which spans 150 buildings. The Senior Network engineer monitors, maintains, improves and upgrades the campus network consisting of chassis based backbone routers, 2000 switches and an Internet edge connected to three ISP's. The network also includes two datacenters connected by a fabric based network. The wireless network consists of 5,000 access points, multiple controllers and supporting servers in an HA configuration. The successful candidate will research, evaluate and propose new technologies and provide third tier troubleshooting support of complex problems. Additionally, the position is expected to manage small to medium sizes projects with minimal supervision. The Senior Network Engineer works with ITS staff, other campus IT professionals, and vendors to assure the smooth delivery of services.
