TheOvernight and Evenings Resident Assistant positions are full-time, hourly, starting wage is $17.50/hour and access to our Benefit Packages upon completion of our "Initial Employment Period."

Responsibilities

Scope and purpose of the Resident Assistant: Is to provide coverage in our Shelters that are open 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. The RA concentrates on making sure the Shelter is a safe, secure, comfortable, and supportive environment for our clients in a manner consistent with the philosophy, policies, and procedures of the Emergency Services Department and The Salvation Army.

  • ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct and provide guidance to the Resident's in the program by coaching them on policies, rules and violations.

  • Administer conflict resolution, crisis intervention and supportive counseling services.

  • Conduct orientation for the women that enter our Shelter by addressing their immediate basic needs, orientating them to the Facility, House Schedule, Program Rules and introduction to the Staff.

  • Responsible for providing snacks/meals, linens, lock and hygiene supplies.

  • Assist the Case Managers by working with the Residents on their Individual Service Plan (ISP's)

  • The promotion of activities that assist with increasing competency with daily and independent living skills.

  • Identify urgent Safety concerns and insure that they are immediately addressed.

ADMINISTRATIVE JOB DUTIES:

  • Maintain accurate documentation and complete the staff journal, statistical accountability, case narratives and log entries

  • Update daily log and Census, Intake Forms and Narratives. Perform data entry tasks.

  • Answer the Shelter phone and respond to inquiries.

  • Attend mandatory staff meetings and all required training sessions as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED is required. This is a trainable position.

  • Associate degree and one year of work experience in the field of Human Services is a plus.

  • Prior experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, and/or working in a team lead role is preferred.

  • Administrative Skills: proper phone etiquette, Computer skills to include outlook/email, MS-Word & data entry in Excel

  • The ability to work in a fast pace, client focused work environment.

  • Must be able to manage several tasks and projects simultaneously.
