SUNY Upstate Medical University Program Coordinator in Syracuse, New York

Job Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Program Coordinator is to complete a variety of program management tasks related to Community Engaged Learning (CEL) for Norton College of Medicine (NCOM) students. Reporting to the Director of Community Engaged Learning, the Program Coordinator is responsible for assisting with planning, implementation, and evaluation of CEL experiences in conjunction with all relevant stakeholders (internal and external). This includes relationship building with community organizations and coordinating logistics for medical students each year. Incumbent will work with the CEL director to implement CEL within the required curriculum, which includes managing the evaluation process and student learning outcomes, monitoring student portfolios, and helping with annual reports. Incumbent will also build partnerships with community organizations and leaders to diversify options available to students. Incumbent must be able to multi-task, with a strong focus on organization, to balance the needs of faculty, staff, community partners and students. The incumbent provides support to program faculty, staff, and administrators as needed to ensure the CEL experiences meet accreditation standards, ensure acquisition of graduation competencies, and adequately prepare students to be aspiring healthcare providers that are socially responsible, active citizens and practice cultural humility. Additionally, the position will support other duties for the Department of Public Health & Preventive Medicine as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Health Education Studies, Public Health, or a related field and two years experience in providing project coordination, research support, or administrative assistance in an academic setting. Experience in any of these areas gained while a student is acceptable.
